Congratulations !!! That's awesome. I'm currently on the waiting list so I'm wondering what kind of stats they are looking for. Could you pls share you gpa, experience, volunteering etc, if you're comfortable with sharing?

Hey!

Thank you :)! I don't think my qualifications in terms of CGPA (3.55) and volunteering (placement at an organization working with newcomers; and a position at a health promotion non-profit organization) are extraordinary.

I think my admission was based on 4 factors (by and large are simply assumptions):

1) my letters of reference (one of my references was an associate professor at the Dalla Lana School)

2) my letter of intent where I tried to stress my passion of social justice and my understanding of the intersectional relations of oppression and how that contributes to health disparities

3) my steady "rise" in GPA - aka. the reason why my GPA is comparatively average is because in the first 2 years I fared rather poorly due to some personal issues, whereas my last 2 years of undergrad my sessional GPA's were 3.7 - 4.0.

4) LUCK! I have no idea how they "rank" the waiting list applications, but I definitely do not think I am more qualified than anyone who remains on the waiting list.

I don't know if this helped you at all. I wish you best of luck!

I attended the session for SBHS and got the recorder webinar about a week later (actually a PowerPoint). I'm also wait listed and haven't heard back. Even if I do get off the wait list, I will turn down the offer because I got an offer of admission (with scholarship) to Mac's global health program on Friday! I'm about to start a full time job related to healthcare in a few days so it is a tough decision between a masters and good money. My future comes down to a *cough* test in a few months time, but Global Health will provide me with some really great experiences I don't want to pass up so...I'll likely accept. Anybody else get accepted? How many scholarships do they give out? Ah so exciting! Best of luck to everyone :)

Hey Jayzpole, Congrats on getting accepted! I just got put on the waitlist for this program. What date did you guys have to accept your offer by?

Congrats to you as well! By tomorrow (the 27th), so hopefully you hear back soon.

I also got off the waitlist for UofT health promotion a few hours ago!

Hey everyone! I just got off the UofT Health Promotion waitlist a few hours and was accepted into the program! I'm hoping to get some advice actually! I also got accepted into UBC's program and was planning on attending it. I really wasn't expecting an acceptance from UofT at this point! But now that I have gotten accepted, I don't know which one to go to. They are both well recognized but I think UBC is more quantitative in its curriculum than the UofT program. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should know about both programs to make the decision? I appreciate any criticism/opinions!

Thanks!

Hello everyone! I've been a long time follower of this thread. I just joined because I'm getting antsy waiting to hear back!

Congrats to all and those on waitlists on getting in! I've been waitlisted for MPH in epi at U of T and hoping to hear a final decision soon. But man oh man that June 30th final decision date is so close yet so far!

I've emailed Matilda Kong a few times asking about more specific time frames but her replies are sometimes vague so I was wondering if someone has any further information or can confirm the information I received.

I was told that the "first and second round of acceptances have gone out" and that they'll know more if they can send offers to people on the waitlist in four to five weeks (I received the email a week-almost two weeks ago, so that puts the time around week of June 13 or June 20?).

For those of you who have gotten off the waitlist recently, would you mind sharing when was the deadline to accept the offer by? @AfifaM @jayzpole Even if they are different MPH streams, it would still help give an idea when those of us on the waitlist may hear back.

Has anyone been rejected? Or if we aren't accepted right away, is everyone put on the waiting list?

I feel like I'm being crazy trying to be a sleuth about this but hey anything helps to pass the time! Cheers!

i just got an email from U of T saying I've been recommended for admission into the health promotion stream!

best of luck for those of you still waiting to hear back

i applied for dentistry in USA, Ireland, Canada, got accepted in multiple schools and applied only to UofT MPH (Soc and behavioral)  and I have neither been waitlisted or rejected...cannot be too bothered since it was a back-up plan, but what is it with UofT...send me a rejection letter already!!!

Has anyone been accepted off the epi wait list at UofT?? It seems pretty late in the game to be accepted now. And considering how many ppl attended the webinar, the waitlist must be long. Wondering if I should just give up hope with UofT and start envisioning my future at another school.

Thanks for the update. :)

Not sure if that made me feel better or worse. I might be in a state of meh at this point.

I took it as good news because I would have felt like crap if I knew they started accepting off the waiting list and I was still waiting ;)

Just got a rejection e-mail for UofT's social science MPH, with a letter attached dated June 1st. Looks like I'll be going to McGill, my second choice. Good luck to everyone who's still waiting to hear back from schools!

Hi everyone!

I recently completed my first year of the U of T Epi program and thought I would reach out if anyone has any questions. I know I found it really helpful last year to talk to some upper year students when making acceptance decisions, so feel free to send me a message with any questions that you might have about the program :) Or about MPH/epi more generally!

Hey ... I have yet to receive a rejection / acceptance / waitlist message from UofT MPH - Epidemiology program. Does this mean that I most likely will get rejected (given that a lot of other people have been accepted or waitlisted).

For anyone who is on the waiting list for the MUN-MPH program in population/community health, I have declined my offer as of today!

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone here will be going to western for the MSc Epidemiology program this fall?

Hi everybody,

Does anyone know if there are funding resources which are available for locals (or new immigrants) who are taking these MPH programs?? What about job prospect in Canada after graduation?

Thanks in advance.

Hey guys! I know this is WAAAY off topic, but I'm really interested in Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, so I was just wondering what is taught at Canadian public schools. I am from Mexico, which is pretty conservative, and sex ed is basically non-existent. And if there's a way I can get hold of the books you use, that would be great!

Thank you.

I'm in the same situation for the health promotion stream. No reply thus far from U of T.

I don't understand this process, I still haven't been informed at all. No waitlist, rejection , or acceptance. Quite odd.
