currentphilgrad Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Farewell Notre Dame. 9 more schools left to hear from (though 2 have already sent out acceptances and waitlists).
Dialectica Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Rejected from Notre Dame and MIT in one fell swoop. Ouch.

gughok Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Joining the MIT rejection train. I did tell everyone that GREs and GPA won't get me in at places. thomasphilosophy 1

I saw a couple of GC results that said they checked the website--I checked and mine still says "submitted." Then I remembered I applied to their HPS program which I genuinely can't remember if it's a separate department or not. But I guess apparently it is? That's my best explanation. (Despite the fact that positing the existence of departments which may or may not exist is blatantly contrary to abductive reasoning)

manchesterano Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 (edited) Anyone still waiting to hear from MIT? I haven't heard a peep. (when this happened with Brown I ended up on a waitlist, so hoping for the same this time!) Edited February 26, 2016 by manchesterano

Chrysippus'Doge Posted February 27, 2016 Posted February 27, 2016 Forgot that today was Friday, accidentally ate meat at dinner. Accordingly, there was an e-mail from Notre Dame waiting for me at home telling me I was a bad Catholic, God was displeased, and so I couldn't be in their program. Ah well. MickeyRay Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted this in the waitlist thread, but I thought that the rejects may appreciate it too.
psm1580b Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 That's amazing. Also "panty-costal"--I kinda lost it

Yeah, so your numbers are great and that will help you... but it wont compensate for the three most important factors: AOI, recommendations, writing sample. It has gotta read as publishable, not just that youre a good writer. It has to be a worthy, strong, original argument, engage with a relevant and current conversation that people are interested in, and its gotta be clear and polished enough to stand out against 400 others.
