Very long time ago, 2003

Oppenheim was just a advisor when I was there. Also, it was just known as the school of communication. It was not officially Herbert SOC.

@Arcanelady27oh wow so funny! I graduated in 2010. Loved it, so had to apply back again. Wanted to do my pre-reqs there too, but no financial aid for second degrees or post bac. When I was there it was Dempster. 

Too funny, and find it funny you also did the PR thing - beauty/fashion as well? 

What did you get your MS in?

My husband, friends and I are all in the same situation ... Changing careers! Wish we had more exploration options in high school and the beginning of college.

Yes, Dempster Hall also when I attended. I did PR across the board. Everything from representing a doctor to having clients such as Bryant Park and the formally known Astroland.

My MS is in Communication Studies. 

Yes, I agree. I never learned about SLP in high school. I wasn't exposed to it until my niece needed one.

What do you do now if you don't mind me asking? I've been rejected from Hofstra and am definitely not feeling confident about getting anywhere so thinking of jobs that might boost up my app. However, SLPA or audiology assistant isn't possible in New York. Thought of hearing aid dispenser, assistant teacher ... Even driving to CT to be a SLPA.

@MrsHThanks, My niece is a chatterbox now. You would never have known she was speech delayed. 

Right now, I work as an administrative assistant for a hospital. How about yourself? 

I hope you get into somewhere this year also, so you do not have to go through this painstaking process again!

Wait-listed to 3 programs, rejected to 4 or 5/12. I haven't gotten the rejection from Queens officially, but no interview makes it expected. Things look grim.

I have not heard from Queens either, I expected official rejection any day now.

@Arcanelady27 I have a Federal Work Study position, ending at the end of May. Looking to complete my pre-reqs online and go back to work full time, but something more relatable than PR/social media. Admin Assistant in a hospital is also a good idea, thanks!

As seen in my signature:

Applied to 6 schools, currently rejected from 4, on one waitlist, and waiting for one's response (should hear sometime this week). Penn State's was the one that stung the most, partially cause they were my favorite and partially because they sent a real, physical letter to say 'we don't want you'.

My mom is outraged at how selective these schools are, and it would amuse me if it wasn't so true.

@MrsHIf you can, aim for hospital. Many will offer some kind of tuition assistance. How many more prerequisites do you have left?

@MrsH  Yes, you're right. I'm taking a physics class to satisfy ASHA  requirement. Hopefully, not in vain.

Did you hear back from Longwood yet? I got outright rejected today which I really didn't expect.
