  1. @Cookie Hall YES! Same boat? Any ideas? Thank you!!
  2. Thanks so much @palabracrush appreciate your help! Unfortunately, that's also a combo class but thank you!!
  3. Hi everyone! Where can I take an online hearing science course this summer? Specifically, hearing science -- not a combo speech/hearing science course. I am waiting to get into a program and they want me to take a hearing science course, not a combo course like I already have. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!
  4. Hi @Angelina92 -- I went to Hofstra for undergrad and LOVED it! Granted, different major (Journalism) but did interview a grad SLP student while I was there which got me into it! The Saltzman Center is a great clinic, the students were very hands on, and everyone seemed so happy (this was about 6 years ago). I would definitely recommend you tour both campuses and see which one you like better as everyone is different, but, I do love Hofstra and would love to go back there for my masters in SLP! Good luck and congrats!!
  5. Hi @SouthernDrawl -- I appreciate your response! And do like your idea of not using the word "appeal'! Thank you, best of luck!
  6. Hi! Has anyone ever tried to appeal a decision? A girl told me her friend did and won, and have been advised to do the same as a few schools have told me it was because I'm taking so many prerequisites this semester (4). What my supervisor said was at the end of the semester, submit a new transcript to the schools and see if I can take any remaining spots. But at the same time, could this have a negative impact if you try again for 2017? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!
  7. Hi @rachieann -- any insight as to why she disliked Hofstra's program? Thanks!
  8. Hi @newspeechie93 first, thanks so much for your kind words! Very sweet of you! But, honestly, pretty much rejected from everywhere - although already looking for ways to improve my app for next year! Anyways, wanted to give you the link: http://www.teachnycprograms.net/getpage.php?page_id=60 Good luck and congrats again! Best of luck in grad school!
  9. Hi @newspeechie93 and everyone-- congrats on your acceptance! Regarding TC, if I was accepted (rejected haha but it's ok!), I was going to apply for the DOE scholarship. You have to serve the NYC DOE for a few years after graduation, but it's a pretty good deal (least in my eyes). Just wanted to let you know in case you hadn't heard about it! Best of luck!
  10. @scafuran also anxiously waiting! Not feeling confident, but do want to know ha. I already live in the area so off. Good luck!
  11. @flapjackal Congrats on Montclair!! I still haven't heard from Montclair, so guessing waitlist or rejected. Feel the same way about TC Columbia, too -- but at the same time, SUPER antsy! Especially if accepted (which not feeling confident on that haha), would need to apply for the DOE scholarship. Good luck!
  12. Any idea when TC Columbia will start sending out decisions?
  13. Also waiting on TC Columbia. Surprised it's taking so long since the deadline was in January!
  14. Congrats!! Did the Montclair portal change? Still waiting to hear! Congrats again!
  15. Hi, feel you! Thinking about getting a job that's related - SLPA, hearing aid dispenser, or work at a hospital/school, etc - and reapply next year. Good luck!
  16. @Arcanelady27 oh, that's awesome, thanks for the help! Honestly, it depends on the school! Some need more than others to be a part of the two year track.
  17. @Arcanelady27 I have a Federal Work Study position, ending at the end of May. Looking to complete my pre-reqs online and go back to work full time, but something more relatable than PR/social media. Admin Assistant in a hospital is also a good idea, thanks! Thanks for the luck!
  18. @Arcanelady27 best wishes to your niece! What do you do now if you don't mind me asking? I've been rejected from Hofstra and am definitely not feeling confident about getting anywhere so thinking of jobs that might boost up my app. However, SLPA or audiology assistant isn't possible in New York. Thought of hearing aid dispenser, assistant teacher ... Even driving to CT to be a SLPA. Good luck and hope you get accepted somewhere soon!
  19. @Arcanelady27oh wow so funny! I graduated in 2010. Loved it, so had to apply back again. Wanted to do my pre-reqs there too, but no financial aid for second degrees or post bac. When I was there it was Dempster. Too funny, and find it funny you also did the PR thing - beauty/fashion as well? What did you get your MS in? My husband, friends and I are all in the same situation ... Changing careers! Wish we had more exploration options in high school and the beginning of college.
  20. @slptobe92 no I haven't tried contacting them or heard anything from them
  21. Also waiting for William Paterson! Montclair, Columbia and Hofstra. Good luck!
  22. @Arcanelady27 WAIT HOLD UP! You were a "dempster rat"?? What year did you graduate?! I got Dean Oppenheim to write me a letter of rec!
  23. @Arcanelady27 I applied kinda all over, but only on the east coast. Farthest north was Boston and south was Univ of Delaware. In NY, I applied to Hofstra, NYU (rejected) and Columbia. Out of field applicant - Broadcast Journalism major, did the beauty/fashion PR scene in NYC but that was crazy haha. Only two pre-reqs under my belt, but now taking four. Been interning for over a year though. Will see what happens, but already looking for ways to beef up my app for next year! What about you?
