coffeeandtoast Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Two of my applications had early deadlines, which was a pain, because I work full-time and had to work hard to get those ready. My other one (Notre Dame), I have not submitted yet, but should do so this week now that I'm on vacation. How's everybody else doing?
rogue Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Just mailed the packages of supporting documents for my last two today. It's such a relief to be done!
Lantern Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) I have been waiting all day for a professor to return my call before I can finish up my personal statement for my (possibly) last school. It's crazy what this application process does to me (us). I am not one to sit by the phone, but I literally don't want to leave one area of the house I am staying in because I don't have good cell service anywhere else! (I do realize that he probably won't call back today b/c of just getting back into the office after the holiday, but he emailed me yesterday afternoon (Sunday!) asking me to call him, so I originally had high hopes.) Oops, I realized this was on the Sociology page after I posted. I saw it on the main page under new topics, sorry! So disregard, I'm clearly the outcast here! Edited January 4, 2010 by Lantern
AmyJ Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) I've done 5 of 6, and hope/plan on getting 6 (Northeastern) done by Sunday. Edited January 4, 2010 by AmyJ
JohnBom Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I sent my last packet early last week. There were 10 of them in total. I think my applications went pretty much down hill after the 15th deadline. I couldn't revise the SOP any more and so I am afraid that they will be able to tell how tired I was. I don't think I showed my best work in the applications. Close to it, yes, but not quite. I am a bit disappointed with myself. Now I just want to get over with the replies, so that i can start planning my life beyond February.
Victorianna Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 I sent out the last of my supplemental information today out of 11 apps. So relieved to be totally finished, but now the waiting...

Now I just want to get over with the replies, so that i can start planning my life beyond February. I've completed 10 app's out of 12. I'm currently working on my 11th one. My last deadline is early March for a master's degree program. If I get any acceptance in February, I probably won't even submit this last application. I was physically worn out too during the week of the 15th. I had several app's due that week. A few days ago I read about another poster's experience of receiving 13 rejects last year and started to wonder whether I should apply to more schools! I'm not thrilled about my writing sample either even though I revised it somewhat. I'm a better writer now than I was eight months ago. I hope that my SOP demonstrates my writing ability adequately.

I was done with my 15 apps in October (Dec. and January deadlines). While I'm glad it's over this just means I have longer to wait for a response!
socialcomm Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I have one LOR waiting to be submitted (deadline TOMORROW!!!) but otherwise everything is in and done. Let the waiting begin...
lj123 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Six out of eight done. I have had the strange urge to sit on complete or nearly complete applications (especially for my top schools) until the deadline is nearly on top of me--I think I keep hoping brilliant inspiration will strike if I hold off. It didn't. Oh, well.
flower power Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Almost done...my first app was due 12/15 and that took a lot of brain power outta me. Now I have a 1/15 deadline and am getting back into anxiety mode, noooo! I have Master's apps due in March, so I am hoping that I will find out by February if I got into any PhD. programs. To say this whole app process has been humbling is a bold ass understatement. I just hope I get into a program where I will do well and that will allow me to accomplish my goals. Good luck to everyone!
captiv8ed Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 All but one. 1 application (PhD) isn't due until Feb 1. I am going down to meet the dean and tour the school next week, so I am waiting until after that to do it, since the visit might bring a change in the statement of purpose.
Early Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Done with everything but the back ups. Trying to stay zen-like in this waiting process.
jacib Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Done with everything but the back ups. Trying to stay zen-like in this waiting process. Done with all my Soc. applications; I have one more application (Religion Masters at Toronto) yet to do. It's due in two days. I still need to check on the status of all my apps, and such, but basically done.
