Congrats to all those who got in Northwestern!

I second the question as to whether it was a personal email or a mass email?

Posted

It couldn't be a straight-ahead mass email/mail merge as they attached a personalized admissions letter. So, there could still be more to come.

Congrats to the Northwestern acceptances! One of my LOR writers just finished up at Northwestern about 6 years ago or so (he's also a big fan of Foucalt!), I'm sure those who go will thoroughly enjoy their experience.

I want to go to bed and wake up a month later. Congrats to everyone, these are some fantastic programs.

Haha I could not agree more. This process is absolutely brutal until you get in somewhere!

This is all so exciting! Congratulations to those who have gotten positive news! To everyone else, we shall continue to wait in baited breath together! *holds hands*

Congrats everyone!

And congrats to you SuddenlyParanoid... you are doing really great!

Here's to hearing from Yale soon- but hopefully not tomorrow since historically it's their rejection day.

Congratulations to the Northwestern admits!

I got an email from Duke with a link to my status- I'm in.

Good luck to everyone, especially to all of us who are still waiting on Yale!

Dang! How are you doing it? Congrats!

There were some acceptances from Yale on the first Friday in February last year. Of course they were overwhelmed by rejections. But I have a nasty feeling that's just the trend... :( In any case, stay strong comrades!

got my official rejection from stanford - i live pretty close i guess.

I live south of Sacramento, so mine should arrive tomorrow. :( I'm still holding out for a waitlist. I had this dream that my acceptance was given to some really cool IR professor who is so hip and cool that he's also really laid-back and just forgot to call me. :P

IR buddy! What's your area? You seem to have both German and Japanese in your signature so I am guessing it is Axis powers? :P

I'm in Riverside, and I guess I'll get the letter tomorrow. I'm IR major too, lol.

Oh, I didn't mean where you all live. I meant the area you study. ><

I didn't apply to Stanford, but good luck to all of you who did!

Woot woot! IR! I'm interested in conflict in general. The whys and the why nots. The how to prevent and how to terminate. I never actually noticed the connection between my languages as axis powers! I took German in High School, and the program was cut while I was in it. I became bitter and switched to Japanese and studied in Japan in college (a move I regret), but I am pretty interested in European war history. :P

What about you!?

(I was learning Italian with Rosetta stone for a little while too! This is a little creepy...)

Hah! That's pretty cool. I do Pacific Rim stuff, especially China-US foreign policy, and I'm dabbling in security issues and feminism and lots of other things. I just love IR. I took Chinese in high school but got to college and there wasn't a program, and I just started in Japanese this semester. :) I'm actually writing a last-minute composition and studying for tomorrow morning's exam right now. Oops.

I imagine it would, but you got into Stanford; doesn't that give you some peace of mind?

To an extent, yes. But I was hoping to end up somewhere on the East coast (for personal reasons). So while I am thrilled about Stanford, smile.gif I am secretly hoping for another offer from Yale, Princeton, Columbia or Harvard.
