ladedodaday Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 one more on wanting to hear about UCSD funding info! I don't know if Plisar wants an open discussion, but could we have a new thread about this since there are so many people who want to discuss it?
gsams Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 The admissions person at Berkeley said that cohort size would still be 20-25 this year, so maybe that is down from 30-35 they had last year?
card28 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I don't know if Plisar wants an open discussion, but could we have a new thread about this since there are so many people who want to discuss it? I think a new thread is a good idea. Or someone could just copy and paste the PM to the rest of us.
ridgey Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Emailed Berkeley, they accept about 25 PhD students a year (the results are less than 10 I think) and I don't know - has anyone in comparatives heard yet or in public policy? Those are the two I indicated (I do health care policy and comparative political analysis of health insurance). They say they will notify by the end of NEXT week. Where else did you apply? I'm a "health and politics" gal myself.
bacata55 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Yale is out... I got rejected. Look in the website...
gsams Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Stanford (rejected), WashU (rejected), Princeton, GWU, IUSPEA (did my undergrad in poli sci at IU), Nebraska, Missouri, University Missouri St. Louis, Kent State, University of Washington, Berkeley, Harvard. Wide variety here, lol. I've done both public policy stuff and comparative politics. My current work is a mixture of both.
CrimsonBlue Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Yale is out... I got rejected. Look in the website... Yale is out!!! Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!
FrostedAmbassador Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Also rejected at Yale. Not that it comes as a surprise, at least.
SBL Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 rejected from Yale too. I'm assuming the 10,400 applicants they mention was for the whole of the graduate school
Rory Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 spurned by Yale....oh well, at least the wait is over for that one...
CrimsonBlue Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 At least, they rejected us in a timely manner
mn06556 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Also axed by Yale. It wasn't a great match, anyway.
natofone Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Yale is out!!! Congrats to everyone who has been accepted! Did you get accepted?
CrimsonBlue Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Did you get accepted? Noooo way..... not an amazing place for IPE despite Scheve's presence...... perhaps my credentials actually suck (oh well impostor syndrome..)
It'sgonnabeme Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Curious about who got accepted at Yale. SuddenlyParanoid, where are you?
blumenrat Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I'm a Yale reject too! 0 for 3. Good record this year!
CrimsonBlue Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Come on Princeton and Harvard, let US KNOW RIGHT NOW!
thatsnotmyname Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Rejected at Yale too. Ah well. At least I know one way or another now All though I worry what this one rejection means for the rest of my apps...eek!
scpol Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Looks like no news is good news today... no acceptances on the results page for Yale and I got (expected) rejections from Emory and Northwestern. Seems others did as well. They're really laying it on today!
LordNorth Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Rejected at Cambridge. Disappointing but not totally unexpected. And, I think I would have chosen UT-Austin over staying in the UK at any rate. Although it would have been nice to get in...
APGradApplicant Posted February 12, 2010 Author Posted February 12, 2010 Would have been rejected at Yale but decided to save the money on the application fee APGradApplicant 1
SBL Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 (edited) All it takes is one. And I gotta say, well done. Edit: This was directed at LordNorth haha Edited February 12, 2010 by SBL
CrimsonBlue Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 BTW, why am I not hearing back from UCSD? Is it because I applied to their joint degree program? Has anyone applied to its joint degree program with GRE cutoffs specifically mentioned?
FairGame Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 In at UVA! (American Politics) I'm thrilled. LordNorth 1
