  1. Got an interview invitation today from UMass Boston! Is anyone else interviewing there? I put on the results page that it was a mass email, but I think I was mistaken. Sorry if I led anyone astray!
  2. Does anyone here want to claim the interview invitation to Wisconsin - Milwaukee?
  3. Yay, congrats everyone! *throws confetti*
  4. Yeshiva, right? I saw it and thought of you! Congrats!
  5. Disclaimer: this question is a bit premature - I have only received one invitation for an interview so far - but I am both a worrier and someone who likes to be prepared! My 'top 3' schools have interviews February 7, February 7, and February 8. They are all several states removed from each other. It is possible that I could make one of the Feb 7 dates and be late (miss half a day) of the Feb 8 school. This would be both hectic and expensive, and I am worried that sleep deprivation might cause me to do poorly. The interview invitation that I have already received (Feb 7) is for a school which has a group interview format. I assume this is the reason why it specifically states on their website that failure to attend the official interview date will decrease chances of admission. When I asked the coordinator how many people were invited she said 20-25 were invited, and they will offer admission 7-8 of us. So it is not an admitted student weekend, I still have to show up and impress them in order to be offered a spot. The other two schools I might actually be slightly more interested in (but just barely). If I was offered interviews/admission to all of them I would definitely want to visit them all before I made a decision. I know that people frequently ask about same-day interviews and the answer is usually "go with your top choice" or "go to the one you have a less likely chance of being accepted to" but I honestly think these schools are equal in all those categories! TL;DR: Received an interview invite for 2/7. Waiting to hear from other top 2 schools who have interview dates 2/7 & 2/8. What should I do if one of them emails me tomorrow asking me to interview?
  6. University of Denver, Clinical. According to the Results Search, anyway.
  7. Thanks Efabo. School Psychology is actually located in the School of Education and not the Dept. of Psychology, so I'm not losing out hope yet! Plus it's barely been three business days since I got the email saying they received all my materials!
  8. I'd say bad news for the schools where interview invitations went out and you didn't receive one... especially if it has been more than 3 days since the invites were sent. However, for schools where invites haven't gone out to anyone, I think you're just fine! eta: 3 business days!
  9. This happened to me as well. I suggest calling, as the above poster recommended. If that doesn't work, I would say send them an email. Put the blame on yourself, "I wasn't sure if I gave you the right deadlines, these 4 were last Tuesday, these 2 are tomorrow. Please let me know if are having problems...Thank you so much ..."
  10. I gave handwritten thank you cards and a Godiva chocolate bar each.
  11. Edible arrangements seem a bit over the top?!
  12. Same here! I thought that would settle me down a little, but I was right back to panic-mode afterwards! Almost immediately after I started thinking,"what if that's the only interview I'm offered?!" which certainly didn't help.
  13. Is that just Social or for everything? I applied to School Psych there and would be bummed if they had sent out all theirs!
  14. Congrats! For my interview I straight-up asked the person who called me how many people were invited and how many spots there were. That should give you a good idea if it's a soft acceptance or not. My feeling is that for Counseling it's probably still competitive, but that your chances just went up to about 25% from 2-3%. As for the interview I would focus on showing the department that you are a good fit. It's also very important to get along with the grad students! Never overlook that!
  15. Also - general tip - BE NICE TO THE GRAD STUDENTS! They have more influence than you think!
  16. Nice! I got that book from the library last week and have been working my way through it. It's super helpful! What schools/geographic region (that will determine what you wear)? Maybe also list the activities (e.g. formal interview, group interview, informal visit, etc). I would make sure you know why you are interested in SP, research you are interested in conducting, and how your interests fit with your POI/the department in general.
  17. I believe it is common courtesy for schools to arrange skype interviews with applicants who live abroad. All of the schools I am applying to say they will. One school says outright on the website that having a skype interview will hurt your chances UNLESS you live outside of the U.S., so you should be fine. Everyone understands.
  18. Did anyone apply to programs outside of School Psych? I got an interview for a Counseling Psych program today!
  19. Just received an interview invite for Purdue for Counseling Psychology, on February 7. Calls today and letters go out Monday, so I think it's safe to say they'll have sent out all invites by then.
  20. Oh no, actually it's the opposite. Lots of schools (especially big ones) have the grad students weed out the bad apps and then only forward the decent ones on to professors! That's where knowing a prof helps, they'll tell them to send your application through without screening. My partner is a grad student in psych at a big university and that's how they do it. Profs don't even see some apps at all - so depressing.
  21. How is everyone holding up? I am going crazy with waiting! Two stories from today. 1. I was at jury duty (super fun) and on their crappy internet. Not once, but twice(!) at separate times while there I recieved an email from one of the schools I applied to with the subject line along the lines of "(Your) application". The WiFi was so terrible that they each took a minute to load and I nearly had a heart attack waiting and imagining what they would say! Turns out both were just telling me my application had been forwarded for review. Which is a good thing after my panic about my materials not arriving, but still a blow since I was really crossing my fingers for an interview invite! 2. I logged into my LinkedIn profile today for the first time in ages and saw that a current grad student at one of the programs I applied to had viewed my page! I know that the grad students are often the ones who start out by sorting the applications, so I spent some time reading about her research interests just for the heck of it. I may be a bit obsessive/have a problem.
  22. Probably means next week, then. Do they do interviews? Did they tell you if they're sending invitations or is it just a straight acceptance/rejection sort of thing?
  23. I have a question to whomever made the post on the Results Search about interview invites all being sent out for Wisconsin - Milwaukee (clinical). Or maybe it's a general question to people with experience with this: I have seen posts on the results search as "rejected - all interview invitations have been sent out" and say that they were notified via email. I'm just wondering what form those emails take. I.E. is it someone emailing the secretary and she breaks the bad news personally, or are they mass emails, like "all interview invitations have been sent out, if you have not received one you are no longer under consideration, blah blah blah" ?
  24. According to the Results Search, all clinical interview invitations for UWisconsin - Milwaukee have been sent out.
  25. It depends on the school. Many offer to pay up to "x" amount of $. Some will pay gas based on your mileage (if you're within driving distance). Sorry, I know this doesn't help much!
