Me too. I can't believe that there are threads here asking about putting off schools who want a decision already! One of my programs doesn't seem to make decisions until the end of March.

I thought SFU MA programs were only one year? I knew someone in IR there and that was the case for her. Might be another point worth considering - do you really want to be back in the same position applying for PhDs this time next year? On the other hand, Vancouver is an amazing city that I would highly recommend to anyone!

I am iphi and I am losing my damn mind! I was rejected from the first school I heard back from on Friday. And I've been cleaning the house all weekend because ....... my SO and I are hosting a prospective grad student! SO is a grad student already at a great university, so we're having someone stay with us while he does his interviews, etc. I must say I'm a little envious. Good news is that prospies who stay with us have always gotten in! Still, doesn't help my own nerves. Good luck to all the interviewees!

Well I just called a school that sent out their acceptances about a week ago but I hadn't heard anything from. The end result = rejection. When I told my SO he said, "Oh, school Y?" and I wailed, "No, school X!". Can't help feeling that was a bad omen. Especially since he named a school I have one of the best chances of getting into.

Is anyone still waiting on UC Davis? I hope not. I called the office today and they said all acceptances had been personally given via telephone by the chair. I guess they're having a glitch in their system, but anyone who has not yet been notified has been rejected. My first response and it's a rejection.

Cut out the extra hour of work around midnight? Go to bed instead and you can probably spend that hour more productively in the morning! Also exercising keeps you awake, can you switch it to the mornings? Those endorphins might give you a good boost!

It depends on the school, how far past the deadline you are and the generosity of the adcom. I would get in touch with them right away! Call tomorrow and politely say that you are very sorry, you had not realized you had not sent the materials and would they still consider you if you sent them immediately?

Luckily the week is not over! I've been seeing acceptances cropping up on Saturdays too, so I wouldn't lose hope yet.

Thanks. I'm holding out hope because it's a pretty small school (hardly any entries on the Results page) so the entire uni has the same visiting weekend. Also I called Monday with a (legit) question about my application and they said they were still reviewing. App deadline was only Jan 15!

UC Merced is February 22-23. eta: that's school-wide, btw. It's still a pretty small school, I can't imagine they get anywhere near the volume of apps of most public universities.

Okay, confession time. Sometimes I go to the Results page and look at all the good ones (Congrats person who got into Harvard CompSci! You must be over the moon right now!) and think about how maybe sometime soon that will be me. It's a rather uplifting exercise and distracts me from the negative thoughts and worrying that are probably giving me an ulcer.

Mine are like that too (all UCs) anyone want to contradict that? I'd love to be wrong!

I was in the car yesterday when one of my favorite songs from about ten years ago came on the radio. I began to remember all my angst from ten years ago and realized that it had all been resolved. That I was happy now, and none of it mattered. I took that to mean that ten years from now I'll feel the same way about my current angst (grad school admissions ). It calmed me down a bit. I know it's silly but this is the Good Omens thread, right?!

I was waiting in the doctor's office yesterday for an hour and a half, getting increasingly sleepier and sicker feeling and thinking about how phone calls were going out to accepted students at one of my programs. Then I swear I heard my phone buzz... I dived for it so fast! Unfortunately there was nothing there - I must have been hallucinating. The damn phantom buzz!

Oooh, I forgot Stanford! I amend my "west coast universities" thing. If you have enough money, anything is possible!

Swarthmore is nice. I like Bryn Mawr as well (maybe more)? I know Kenyon has been voted "most beautiful" before but I was not a huge fan. I visited WashU years ago when in high school. It was spring and gorgeous (which may have biased me). Sadly my undergrad institutions and all my grad picks are not the prettiest places. The west coast on the whole tends not to be, IMO.
