I think most people are far from advocating he gives up his place at SAIS or any other school. I'm sure, like everyone else, he worked hard for it and congratulations to him. However, I along with the rest of the board simply want to correct his misconceptions about grad school in public policy or IR/IA. I too would prefer to remain in the private sector but slightly refined from my current role. What I dont want or expect is a six figure salary. Simply contentment in my role and progression towards a goal. If six figures is part of the package, then who am I to complain but its not my desire. Revolution, time and time again, has denigrated some fine students (they'd have to be to get into some of those schools) and thats something I'm just not cool with. We all worked hard, we all have goals. I respect his, just like he ought to respect anyone else's. I wouldnt call him out to his face, I'm sure he's probably a decent guy but perhaps a little blunt with his thoughts. I wouldnt take any pleasure in embarrassing him or anything but he really ought to reflect on his surroundings. You want an MBA, go right ahead. And the fact that he says he will not learn anything from his cohort at SAIS, highlights his ignorance. These are potentially some of the most well versed and knowledgeable folk around, and he wont make no use of that? Seriously? Anyway, I have no more to say. Nothing personal Revolution.

Honestly, with that smug attitude Revolution has, how would he fare at a grad school like SAIS? I would think very badly. IA/IR programs are generally quite community driven (especially in schools like Fletcher, SAIS, SFS) and having a holier then thou attitude would surely alienate him from his classmates?

A little harsh I'd say. SIPA is a good program and clearly people applying are smart enough.Get over yourself.

Its called an opinion. And also I was framing it from more of an IR standpoint. I mentioned that point in my post. No way am I disparaging HKS or WWS but I was talking specific IR programs.

Completely disagree with these rankings. HKS is hardly the top IR school when its not even completely IR focused. SAIS or SFS would be number one on that list followed by Fletcher and SIPA. HKS and WWS, while fantastic programs, I would consider them more generalist programs rather then specific IR programs. YMMV.

I think SIPA's bad rap comes from the fact that they offer little or no aid for 1st year students and additionally the program is massive so many students are left without jobs upon graduation. I dont have facts but I read in the Foreign Policy that their students have the lowest employment rate out of all the top 10 schools.

@Aseandumpling. Was the Bosworth Scholarship something you specifically applied for or do they just consider you for it?

Are Fletcher results out?

Just heard from Elliott. No funding at all. Sucks.

I wonder how schools like GWU Elliott and Tufts Fletcher perform in this area. I know they have good links to people in MBB but not sure how well the place. I guess it may have something to do with the fact that they may not be as quantitative as SAIS or SIPA.

I've emailed them. I'm going to phone tomorrow. Frankly, again not to sound (too) arrogant, but I am shocked to have been rejected. I pretty much tailored the past 18 months to this program so to say I'm bummed would be understatement.

Log into your application and you might find something. I didnt get the email and checked and found out I was not admitted.

I've seen SAIS alums move into consulting at some of the major firms. I think it depends on the program itself. Aside from the obvious brand name, I would say the skills you gain are so important. SAIS and Chicago Harris are the two main policy/IR programs that advocate a strong knowledge of quantitative techniques so they are able to leverage those skills to suit these companies. So its definitely possible and agreed to check out LinkedIn to find alums for your respective school that may want to help out.

As everyone is inching closer to hearing about potential admissions, I thought it'd be a good idea to set up this thread for everyone to post up the relevant Facebook groups for any program they were admitted to. I think it'll be great for those seeking roommates, getting to know their future cohort, etc!
