Hey guys., I would like to get a recommendation. It's been years since I rode a bike for the last time, but I want to start riding regularly for a couple of reasons like health and commuting to College. What kind of bike do you recommend? A brand new bike or a used one? I've been visiting websites of the local bike shops where I'm gonna study and have seen some brands and bike for city and communtig. Nevertheless I need an expert opinion. Thank you in advance!

Hanyuye, I'm starting a Master program in Geophysics this fall at The University of Tulsa and it is focused on the oil exploration and reservoir characterization path, which is what I aim for and what I've been doing since I graduated here in my country.

I am definitely going to attend to University of Tulsa. I am from Caracas, Venezuela; a city of 5.4 million people approximately so is going to be nice to live in a city of 300,000. I am moving with my wife and I will start to research which are the best zones for housing. What about cycling? Are the roads in Tulsa cycling friendly? I mean, can I use a bicycle for traveling from home to the Campus? Bye

Rejected from Houston too. Good thing first news was an acceptance.

Well, I wrote to the admission secretary of one of the universities. She told me they have a process where faculty review a spreadsheet with information of all applicants. Then they make a list of student they would like to be reviewed by the comitee. Neither of the advisors I indicated in my application put me on such a list. Also she said that if I want to be considered for the May 1st deadline I should contact others possible advisors immediately. Really? In others words, a very sophisticated way to say "you are rejected".

Thanks! Nothing on funding but they mentioned that I should contact my advisor and ask him if they nominated for it, as it is a separate process

I just got my first acceptance today and waiting for the remaining 5 programs.

Just got accepted to Tulsa!!! Not the biggest program but I'm so happy right now. They accepted me for the Geophyscis Master program and I applied for the Geosciences Master program.

Cool, another oil/gas industry person. Even though I don't have good GRE scores and GPA I regret not applying to Mines and Texas, uh! If I don't get in this year I will certainly apply next year knowing this whole process better. Congrats on the Rice acceptance and good luck for the rest of the schools!

I changed my gmail address for an icloud one in a lot of sites, and unsubscribe it from a lot of email lists! Nevertheless I still receive junk mail on my phone!!!

If I get accepted: Buy a couple of fine wine bottles and celebrate with my wife, and I'm getting a tattoo... That´s a promise!!! All rejections: Starting planning to strengthen my application for Spring/Fall 2014!!!

There are definitely a few things that I would had done different if I knew at the moment, like applying just for six universities a how I picked the ones I applied for. I just hope I won't have to make this whole process again.
