  12. I think there aren't any. The schools where I interviewed call it either Open House or Visiting Days. Yet, it's basically the same thing: A bunch of prospective students are invited to campus, get tons of information about the program, have interviews with multiple faculty (and often with current grad students), and are courted by the school. It is competitive, though, as not all attending applicants get an offer. A recruitment day, in contrast, serves the purpose of, well, recruitment. So recruitment days are typically optional and organized by programs that admit students without formal interviews.

  20. I applied to the social psych program at Princeton. I emailed the psych department yesterday to update my application materials (to include a competitive fellowship I had won). They replied that "the application process is currently in progress. No final decisions will be made or announced until March 15, 2013." Does this mean Princeton did/does not interview on campus? I mean, this would have been a good opportunity to tell me that if I hadn't been invited, I'm out. Rather, I was told that my file would be updated and the admissions committee informed of the good news. I know that there were two interviews posted on the notice board but those were for "Psychology" (not social psych) and might as well have been by phone and/or only for specific POIs. I'm a bit puzzled what to make of this. Any info would be much appreciated!
