    Successfully defended my thesis this past Monday with no edits required by my committee. Now I just need the graduate school's approval.

    Unless I score the NSF GRFP or a lot of people decline their admissions offers, it looks like UTK and UNC are out of the running :(

      Dont give up!! Ecology is worth the fight! The good new is that if you do get the NSF GRF many of the schools will take you!

      I'd ditto that, but last time I applied, I got rejection letters in May. There are no guarantees.
