  1. Actually, they cover full tuition for 10 students, seven of which get a $25,000 teaching fellowship tacked on. Since 2013 they've only accepted a maximum of of 10 students. I think they took eight last year. Of course, this isn't the end of your financial burdens. If you're not from New York, understanding how to afford housing may be a struggle for you and this is where a financial problems can come into play, especially if you're not offered the fellowship.
  2. I'm basically down to three programs, everyone. I'm sorry for anyone in a similar boat but if you know you belong in this field, try not to get too discouraged. One day we will look back at our published dissertations and laugh at the fact we ever had a doubt in our mind.
  3. I'm not a very physically affectionate person but I think a lot of us need this right now: http://thenicestplaceontheinter.net/

  4. "My application portal won't load. Does that mean someone is updating my status?!"
  5. I know that feel.
  6. Question: If there are acceptances and wait lists up on the board, does that mean I've been rejected? The department informed me that a decision has not been made for me yet but with wait lists already out, why wouldn't I have just been one of them?
  7. I know that someone who went through the program was accepted to Yale for Art History a few years ago. There are a ton of threads on it, if you search around. Here is one example:
  8. Did anyone not get an MAPH acceptance or referral that was rejected from U Chicago?
  9. I thought one of the primary reasons for sub forums was for these questions, silly me. It's becoming a major pet peeve of mine.
  10. First off, there is an art history sub forum here that I think would be more appropriate for this particular thread. I'm sure many of us would be happy to answer you there. In the meantime, you're free to PM me. http://forum.thegradcafe.com/forum/66-art-history/
  11. This isn't a good sign...

  12. I wish people would update the boards within 24hrs of hearing a decision, official or not.
  13. I had a problem with transcript upload for three schools and they all contacted me about it. That being said, two of those schools have started accepting students and I haven't heard from them, so don't get your hopes up too high.
  14. I keep having acceptance dreams, which I find torturous.
  15. Thank you for the update, Anonymousbequest. I certainly feel invisible.
  16. I'm not sure. I think that some have seen their acceptance before being e-mailed but it seems highly uncommon. I probably check my application statuses three times a week and there hasn't been any changes, even when I know that at least two of the schools I've applied to are definitely in review, because of reasons.
  17. To my knowledge, Princeton has not reached out just yet, although it makes me wonder; has anyone seen a change in their application status from any of the schools they have not officially heard from?
  18. A lot of schools seem to have responded earlier last year for some reason. The years before that are a little more in line with this year but that doesn't mean I'm any less anxious. I haven't heard anything definitive in either direction for myself just yet, as reflected in my signature. I feel like I have the hormones of a teenager while going through the waiting process; a lot of emotional ups and downs.
  19. Hopefully these universities think I am too, haha.
  20. Based on the results board I think it means successful as candidates or "short listed." I also remember reading one year that they interviewed 30 people but 30 were certainly not accepted. I wish everyone the best of luck with their interviews.
  21. If you look at the results page, there are applicants in the past who have explained in the notes that they were rejected after the interview. Also, if you go to the IFA FAQ page, it explains that all successful candidates will be interviewed. Does anyone know if all interviews have been scheduled?
  22. I saw that some people were getting interviews from a school I applied to yesterday. I e-mailed the department today to ask if they were still inviting prospective students to interview and did not receive a response all day, even though I know the e-mail was read. Is this a bad sign?
  23. The bottom line is that I did it and it was worth it because it was a very respectable place to intern post-grad.
  24. It's painful when you *know* you've been rejected from a few schools but probably won't be told for another month.

I think it's too early still, in my case. I don't want to bug the departments just yet.

  25. I am absolutely devastated that I haven't received any word from three of the schools I applied to now that I know they're interviewing or unofficially accepting others. I want to believe that these schools don't interview everyone but I have a really bad feeling this means I've been denied. I think I'm just going to stay in bed the rest of the day....or until I hear news from a school. I know that one of the schools I haven't heard from has basically the best networking opportunities of all the programs.
