How... do you plan a wedding in grad school?

Is it odd that I still read threads, but then don't post? I generally read something and have a comment, and then I either get distracted, or I decide my point is too minor of a contribution. That and I often peruse while waiting on time points.

It is sort of surreal that a year ago I moved to start my graduate program, and now I'm almost done with my qualifying exam!!!

Joined a lab a bit ago, finished all of my coursework last week (the hardest part!), and now taking a short vacation before prepping for quals. I can do this!

You think that the scariest part of going to grad school is getting in.... but then comes the craziness of selecting a lab. Then you think you're done... but you still have to do quals. Whee! But the good news is I selected a lab!

I might have survived my week from hell, but the test scores won't be up for a while, so who knows! I'm planning on putting up a new blog post on back-up plans for biomed/ molecular biology students in the next week or so. PM me if you have ideas you would like included!

I'm not dead. I had what I think was the flu and then went downhill from there. Currently recovering from pneumonia, trying to survive classes, and working on my rotation. Yay, life!

I saw a couple of talks about how there's now so much data out there that renders the scientific method obsolete, because every case study imaginable has already been done, documented, and accessible. Also, there's a machine that can run experiments 1000x faster than humans. I'm curious what you think about this.

I think my thesis is trying to kill me... or at least the people publishing papers right now are. >.<

It is so odd to have emails from my old school and new school at the same time with things that need to be done. I need to get this thesis done to stop the insanity!

Note to friends: Backup often when writing thesis. At least twice per day. Epic computer crash last night, and I was able to recover all but about a page of my thesis. Whew.

Writing the thesis, now. Likely won't be here much until it is over, and then will be at my new school, so things will be hectic!
