  1. I'm jealous, as I vowed not to drink till I got an acceptance. That beer is going to be so rewarding if that time comes.
  2. Yep, this is my one and only time applying. I can't afford to apply again next year.
  3. Someone please put my mind at ease. Does a rejection from one school necessarily mean I will be rejected by all others I applied to? It is definitely a bummer that my first decision had to be a rejection as it has lowered my confidence to levels I didn't know were possible.
  4. Thank you for this.
  5. If they told you to wait, then wait. Just hang tight and be happy you got accepted into a school like Berkeley.
  6. My first decision was a rejection, and now I feel as if I'm not getting in anywhere.
  7. Welp, first rejection. What a crappy feeling.
  8. For a master's program, it is a compliment to be considered for any sort of funding, so that is a good sign. Keep your fingers crossed. I think only two of my prospective schools offer funding packages to their MA applicants. And congrats on your acceptance!
  9. Here's hoping that you get better news in the weeks to come!
  10. I see there is a UC-Irvine rejection via snail mail. I didn't realize they notified in that fashion, now I'm getting nervous.
  11. All of my applications were to MA programs, and I expect to hear the verdicts as soon as February gets here. My top choice won't notify till late February, however, so that wait will be a hoot.
  12. For the UC Irvine acceptees, congrats! I was also wondering if you guys applied for the PhD or MA program?
  13. UC Irvine started sending out decisions already? Not sure how to feel about this one.
  14. Cal would be a no brainer. But all other's have something to offer in their own vain. However, Irvine would probably be on the bottom of the list as I feel the whole city is a new construct of cement and metal (take that as you will), having grown up in inner city Los Angeles.
  15. I also regret not emailing all POI's, although I did speak with one briefly. I had the same mindset that as an MA applicant, I didn't need to reach out to all of them. Nothing to do now, but just wait and see how it unfolds.
  16. You mean to say its not the "University of Indiana?" Ooooopsies I love black socks, with Disney characters all over them.
  17. Congrats on that awesome Quant score. As an English major, you should be proud.
  18. Calling my mom to shed tears of happiness, and then drinking a six pack of Lagunitas.

  20. Now I'm curious as to what band you are in.
  21. Yeah I'm with you. Although my roommate just got a rejection from one his top choices, so it got me dreading some possible bad news for me. I'll take the waiting just for the sake of having the feeling of hope alive.

I LOLed at the gang activity. If you guys ever go to Los Angeles, make sure you stick to staying in Beverly Hills. You might feel a little better there being surrounded by rich white people.
  23. I graduated from SU last June, great school in a great location. I had no idea we had masters programs in these fields though!
  24. I don't recall the online application having a drop box for a CV. However, the department instructs you on how to submit the writing sample. I applied to the history department and it had information regarding the graduate coordinator I had to email my WS to, who then responded on receipt I'm not sure if this is also the case for the department you are applying to, but more likely than not, it is. I would just recheck the department's website.

Seems like everyone is mentioning all the neighborhoods except the Central District. It's a really good residential location that is smack dab in the middle of Seattle. You can find some really good spots here (It's where I'm currently residing), and its really close to the UW with very accessible bus lines if you don't have a car. If anyone has any particular questions about the city, feel free to ask! I'm going on my fifth year here, and I cannot rave enough about how great Seattle is.
