  1. Thanks for posting this; I was just about to look this up! Honestly, it made my day being I'm expecting to hear from MSU re: funding next week sometime. Reviewing my notification estimate document, I realized that (if history is an indicator) I shouldn't expect to hear from most of my schools until next week (five the second week of Feb and five the third). Though OSU should be sending out rejections and possibly waitlists this week! I am relieved by the fact that I am applying to, with a couple of exceptions, vastly different programs than others on this board; only 2 of my 15 schools tend to notify on Fridays. In short, I'm working on developing a strategy to prevent insanity next week...
  2. I just used my last upvote on proflorax, but <3!
  3. Here's hoping for news! All I can say is praise the Lord for the Pats winning the Super Bowl... The first thing to keep me off the internet for more than an hour since my apps went out!
  4. Congratulations, Childermass! That's fantastic! I hope your official word comes soon so you fully exhale.
  5. The only acceptance I have right now doesn't do online status updates. However, I can say with the exception of apps due January 15 ALL my apps were submitted right before/at the deadline. I don't think they can realistically expect submissions super early for applicants currently in school, especially MA students teaching.
  6. Thanks for this! It makes me feel better, especially about the WS. The place where I was accepted is one of three programs that received the writing sample I sent them. The other twelve got something completely different. That being said, I would be okay with 14 rejections having that one acceptace in the bag, provided, of course, funding comes through (which I won't know for another couple of weeks). FWIW: My writing sample from the 2012-2013 app cycle was accepted for publication last December without edits, and I was 0/12 in that round...
  7. While Penn State is at the top of my list, I am usualy the first person to jump on the implicit rejection bandwagon. However, I would say hold off on PSU for now at least. Historically, their acceptances come out over a period of WEEKS, and they don't send out rejections until April... if at all... Edit: removed my request being that it appears I missed the answer!
  8. Congratulations dgs, and thanks so much for sharing! It's a fantastic program, and I wish you all the best (no matter which eay if goes for me).
  9. Yes, congrats hypervodka! Amazing!
  10. Sadness in my lack of up votes... Also That whole ten week things just made my brain explode a little. I totally wasn't in factoring waitlists to the amount of time this would countine...
  11. Damn my lack of up votes today!
  12. IDK how I reached my upvote quota with one, but ditto. I've only had one acceptance, but I did the same.
  13. So glad other people noticed that.... Seriously... wtf
  14. Definitely my ug/first master's (same school). I've had an incredibly positive experience with my current program, but it's a regional state school so there's not the same pride older and/or bigger name schools get. That being said, sports weren't a super huge thing at my first alma mater, so depending on where (if) I get in for a PhD that could change; I have several big ten, sec, etc. on my list. Though, I expect then it would probably be a "same but in different ways" scenario. BTW, <3 smg's avatar.
  15. Thanks so much for the inside scoop, thepriorwalter! It's greatly appreciated. In that case, I'll hope for no news until after Feb 16. Good luck with the fellowship nom!!!!
  16. djb 1993: would you be willing to name the school (possibly through pm)? PSU typically notifies around now so if it is them I can start prepping to get a rejection.
  17. Anyone calling the Georgia State acceptance? I'm shocked to see one so early; the admissions deadline was January 15!
  18. Re: Ohio State... As another OSU-limboer, I'm expecting to hear next week (personally, I'm thinking a waitlist would be a best case scenariot). Last cycle they sent first-round acceptances around the same time they did this year. If that trend continues, then the rest of the decisions would come out the first week of February.
  19. Yay Boston! Feel free to PM if you end up there and have questions about the area.
  20. Congrats to all who received great news today!!!!
  21. It's true! Having been on here regularly for the 2012-2013 app cycle, this time around it has been a relief much more than a stressor. Everyone's support is tremendously appreciated!
  22. It's nice to hear from you, and congratulations! What an accomplishment!
  23. Thanks for sharing your Gdoc expertise!
  24. That is very true. Given the interdisciplinary nature of my interests, I applied to English programs with areas of focus that include all of those you listed, but it can get a bit much in thinking about it. For example, I just checked, and one of the programs to which I applied has 18 areas of sub-study under "English."
  25. I was hoping we'd get American Studies posters too; it seems to make sense to include them all together given that, while some schools seperate out individual areas of study, a great many programs put things like American Studies, Film, and Rhetoric under the larger, English umbrella, so to speak.
