As crazy as it may sound, I agree with the false hope idea.

No, I didn't mean the call caused it, that would be crazy! A phone call might irritate them, but by know means would it sway a different decision. I've been superstitious lately, Im scared to call/email!!

I got a rejection email 2 weeks ago on a saturday morning, but this seems to be unusual. check the database for last years results, then compare those dates from last year's calendar, seems like most decisions come on work weekdays

Contacting schools seems to be the kiss of death, I've read a lot of posts lately where people have called/emailed admissions and within hours receive a rejection, I emailed a school 2 weeks ago, received the rejection the next day. Safe to say I will NOT be contacting any more admissions people

Yeah, early to late March for me, one of the schools I applied to Dec 1st, 3 and a half month wait

I received 2 rejections a few weeks ago in a 4 day span, one was expected, the other a bit of a surprise, Im waiting on 6. I have been thinking a lot about getting completely shut out, but I'm trying to be more rational, you are not alone!!

I love sports, but honestly, I don't want to go to a big sports school. When you look at the top notch schools in this country, is it any coincidence that almost NONE of them have good sports?? I think not

Oh, here's a REALLY good one--- When I graduated with my Masters in May 2012, my mom told told my grandparents because she was so excited for me, their response "Didn't he already graduate!?" referring to my bachelor degree Oh, and now they are "concerned" that I am only working part time while my wife works full time. SHE IS DONE WITH COLLEGE!! She has a job with a Masters!! I HAVE TO GET A DOCTORATE DEGREE IN MY FIELD...they don't %&^ing get it, they never will.

several months ago I said to my brother "I'm applying to this school, this school, U of Chicago etc." His response--"Doesn't U of Chicago have a good football team?" UUGGGHH....

I'm pretty sure the applications I'm waiting to hear from are in a rejection crate in a warehouse somewhere, kind of like the end of the Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark movie. Just TELL ME ALREADY!!!!

OMG, that is ridiculous. Geesh, I feel for you, I applied to a program early Jan. They were missing several items in my application a week or two later. I told them that everything was there, they eventually found it. One week later, I receive a generic letter of rejection. Fabulous. Their disorganization actually made the rejection easier to take, I didn't want to go to a school for several years if they are going to be messy the whole time. Keep your head up!!!

Yeah, if this were a poker game, I pretty much put all of my chips into the pot--- -I've spent all the money I had on apps, bills (could've bought an old used car by now!) -moved into a relatives house last August to save money on rent (going insane living here!!!!), -haven't had a honeymoon yet, gave up my gym membership (put on 15 lbs, was really fit, not anymore!!!) -cancelled my satelite service (now I watch antenna, 5 glorious channels to watch) -drink everyday (used to drink ONLY on the weekends) -working a dead-end, part-time job (so I could have the time to do the applications!) -wife is getting tired of my anxiety etc etc. Ummmm.... anything else??? If I don't get into a school, I guess I'll work at WalMart with a Masters Degree Sorry for the rant, now I feel better:)

Man, a good amount of movement going on lately, nothing for me so far. Of course, most of my schools deadlines were in Jan, so it's going to be awhile. Congrats to all of those who are getting acceptances and interviews!

You guys are making me pretty jealous....I'm just hoping to get in SOMEWHERE!!! The idea of "dream" school has left my mind, now any acceptance will be a dream come true!!

Hopefully I will be moving to my acceptance school. Thank God I finished my Master thesis last year, I couldn't imagine applying to PhD programs while still trying to finish a degree, Kudos to those that are accomplishing that feat! Will have a LATE honeymoon with my wife (been married 8 months, a honeymoon is LONG overdue) Save some money, if I don't get into a school, I will probably move somewhere else to find a job, nothing here for me right now.

AWESOME!!! Congrats!! Yeah, decisions coming around the same time as my bday is not something I like to think about, but hopefully it will turn out to be the greatest bday ever!! keeping my fingers crossed

Indeed, this is a good omen. When I think about my angst from ten years ago, it all seems completely irrelevant these days. So glad those days are over!!! I'm happy for the future! Thanks! I keep dreaming about the day that an email/phone call/letter comes my way, telling me that I'm accepted!! I can't wait to hear the good news!!
