  1. Thanks for the suggestions... I currently work for a hospital and I want to transition to their SLP department. It appears to be the grad assistant position go to people with perfect scores. I would love to get one but I am doubtful.
  2. Crimson Wife, a high GRE score should definitely help. I am not sure if there is a discrimination against older applicants. You could be right.
  3. I spoke to a very helpful graduate assistant at Brooklyn College. I was informed they are still interviewing and pulling people in for interviews. They are going on spring break as of today, but hope to be done with the process of admitting by April 15th. She said the latest we should know is by the end of this month.
  4. This was ASHA's response. I emailed them The information in EdFind is populated by institutions that complete and submit our annual CSD Education Survey. The last survey was in the fall of 2014 and institutions reported data for the 2013-2014 academic year. The next survey is scheduled to open in early August 2015, and they will be submitting data for the 2014-2015 academic year. I hope this information is helpful and answers your question. Thank you, Natalie Natalie Wilson HES Data Manager, Academic Affairs & Research Education (301) 296-5771
  5. I feel this school is very biased. Jettip can dislike this comment but I took prerequisites there. I know what I'm talking about...
  6. As an older applicant, I understand your frustration. A school sent me a rejection the same day applications were due! I felt the same way you do. I disputed it and the school sent me a crap letter stating not enough seats and other exceptional students. I know for a fact someone with a lower GPA and GRE score got an interview at this school. I ,on the other hand, received an immediate denial.
  7. I agree. I completed my Masters in 2008. I started college at 19. I was young and unfocused. I'm MUCH older now and aware how the world works. I can't understand why grades I obtained at 19 years old hold much weight if any...
  8. You must give them ALL transcripts can't leave any out
  9. I'd love to know also... let Looks like I will be applying next year also...third time.
  10. I would say try for least competitive schools. It is really competitive in NY and CA. I would recommend using ASHA's edfind to find schools that accept people with your scores.
  11. I'm expecting a rejection From Brooklyn also. I wish they would just get it over with so I can plan my next move. California sounds great. I hope you get in...competition is stiff there too!
  12. Congratulations! Are you going?
  13. I feel the same way. I definitely have the passion. How can a test determine how one will do in grad school? I have a Masters and finished it with a 3.75 GPA. I thought that would hold some weight.
  14. You will have ask the schools individually whether you can take grad classes as a non matriculated grad student. The schools usually have you complete an application along with all transcripts, and LORs.
  15. Not too many schools will allow taking grad courses on non matriculation basis. I received good grades as a non matriculation grad student. I know Brooklyn College no longer allows it. I volunteered, shadowed, and took the GRE again. I went down in quant and up in verbal.
  16. I know how you feel. I am going to aim for spring.I must rewrite my SOP for the third time. I'm limited, unfortunately.
  17. I took two classes as a non matriculation student at Brooklyn College. I even got a LOR from one of the professors. As for online option, I took two classes online while doing my prerequisites. I really do not learn best online, but thanks for the suggestion Holly44. This is year two for me...perhaps one more try.
  18. CBG321, The problem is those schools are all private schools I can't afford. I have almost 100K in student loans. The nearest state school is 1 hour and 30 minutes away. I am an older student and can't just leave my job. Besides, my job gives me a small tuition stipend. Thank you for your words of encouragement
  19. You are absolutely right! Why not send out denials right away? It is a generated letter, often sent by the admissions office, anyway!
  20. Should read I'll be taking...
  21. Anyone else out there with nowhere to go in the fall? Looks like I will taking GRE again...fourth time!
  22. Congrats! Sadly, I feel like a denial is in my future. Once again...never interviewed.
