I really stink in Math. I used Magoosh app for vocabulary. I have two cliff note books for verbal and math section of GRE. I'm going to have to open them again and try harder to grasp the concepts.

ANY tips for GRE? I scored Q 141 V 152 AW 4.0 My undergrad GPA done 12 years ago is 3.01. My post bacc is 3.38. I need to take a physics class. I hope that helps my GPA

Yes, he told he had 12 to write. That is a great idea...getting an unpopular professor!

My SOP is about the same. A professor who wrote a LOR wrote only a paragraph for me. I am worried maybe that LOR is not good enough.

2015 SLP Admissions Thread

Congrats to all starting classes this summer/fall! I do wish I would be joining you, but I am once again reapplying to grad school. -
Thanks... How long should a LOR be?
-
I emailed program director. She stated the evaluation process is done and letters will go out the end of this week. Translation...I have been rejected for the second time. I am so tired and really discouraged.

For those accepted to Hunter College for fall 2015, did you have to interview? Would you mind sharing your stats? I am debating on whether I have a shot in being admitted. Thanks

Need advice... please! :)

I have not been accepted. However, I am limited to affordable schools within my city. My plans are to retake the GRE for the fourth time. I know that ASHA changed their requirements and I am not sure my biology class satisfies their new requirements. I also believe I must take a physics or chemistry. I will register to take these classes and hopefully boost my overall GPA. -

It appears to me getting your SLPA will help you in more ways than one. However, getting your SLPA is no guarantee you will get into a grad program. Many who apply for grad studies ,in SLP, do not necessarily have experience in the field. They have volunteer experience and observation hours that are often required for completion of a BA in SLP. As someone mentioned, there are people who went to school for SLPA and still did not get to grad school after three years of applying. -
I took a Biology course called Plants & People. Does this course satisfy the biology requirement?

It looks like I will be reapplying and also taking the GRE for the fourth time. This will be my final attempt to get into grad school for Spring/Fall 2016. If I do not get in this time around, I will have to find another career. I simply can't keep wasting time. I am an older applicant and I do have other dreams.

I also volunteered. I just took the prerequisites. I have 3.5 in my SLP classes and a 3.3 undergrad GPA. I have taken the GRE three times. My highest verbal was 152, but my highest quant was on a prior attempt. I have an AW score 4.0. I waived my right to see my LORs. How long should a LOR be? Does anyone know? -

Did you get interview for CUNY Brooklyn ? -
My plan C is to take an 8 course certificate program in ASL. The thought of being conversation in ASL excites me. Hopefully, will help in my quest to be a SLP. Who knows? I may ditch ASL all together and become an interpreter!

You are welcome! I am pretty much in the same boat as you and expecting the same result. This is my second year applying to this school.

Below is the response I received from Brooklyn College this morning. The process is on going. I can tell you that the first batch of admissions have gone out, we are awaiting responses. Depending on what we get back, more interviews may possibly be done, but it is unlikely. A second batch of admissions will probably go out next week, but that would be from students who already have been interviewed. The program director does hold applications until some time in May, so anything is possible. I hope this was helpful.

Can I take post-bacc classes in different places??
Arcanelady27 replied to CBG321's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
As long as the class fits the prequisite, yes you should be able to take it anywhere you want. I know many people who fufilled their preqs at different schools. If you want to attend the particular school you are now taking your prerequisites, I would check with them if it is acceptable. For most programs as long as you take the classes needed and it fufills their requirement, it does not matter where you took the class. -

Hang in there...I know last year some people were notified late April of their acceptance. At least you got an interview! -
Didnt get accepted now what?

I hate to tell you a Masters will not help your chances. I have one. It is not really considered. It is an added bonus but does not hold much weight to admissions committees. -
I think I'm going to aim for University of Wisconsin. I like their program set up.

Ok..so I bumped this thread for all those who are waiting for Brooklyn College. I am pretty much in the same spot as last year. I have not heard or been interviewed. However, I was told that they are still interviewing and we should know something by April 15, if not by the end of the month. I was told this on Wednesday April 1st. They are on spring break now. I have a slightly higher GRE score and I did some volunteer/observation work at a prestigous rehab hospital. I also have two classes as a non matriculated grad student under my belt. I need a drink! The waiting is killing me at this point!
