  1. I have the same GPA for my first B.A. I also have a M.S. with a 3.75 GPA. I understand your worry.
  2. But your post bac GPA is a 4.0? Isn't that the GPA with the AL classes?
  3. With thousands in student loans, I can't afford private. My job gives me 10K a year tuition stipend. Thanks for the ideas, but I am a older student and limited due to prior commitments.
  4. Once again, I am in the same space I was in for three years in a row. I have not heard anything from any of the schools I have applied. I received stellar LORs. My GRE scores are not the best, but not the worse either. If I do not get in this time around, I will have to accept this career was not for me. If I could, I would pick up and move to another part of the country. However, that is not practical for many older students (like myself). Anyone in a similar situation ?
  5. Still holding out, I have heard nothing. Praying for a miracle...
  6. No, you are not alone. Sadly, I have not heard anything. I know the long I wait, the more likely it is rejection.
  7. No, I am still waiting.
  8. I would love to know which school she was accepted.
  9. Due to going to a private school for undergrad and for my first Masters, I simply cannot afford private again.
  10. The competition is unreal. I'm applying to the schools listed in my signature for the third time with the exception of Queens. I know Queens College is very competitive, but I must try. I am limited do to other obligations and can't leave NY. I went back an got my B.A. in SLP. I brought my GPA from a 3.38 to a solid 3.5. I hope this helps. I'm an older student.
  11. Congrats! Really happy for you!
  12. What I will say is this field has become so competitive I do not think there is no longer a "safety school" dynamic when applying. Your verbal is great. I have been told a combined score og 300 what more schools look for or scores within the 50th percentile. Your writing score is something I would consider a slight glitch. I was told 4.0 and higher is what most schools look for... I would highlight all those experiences in your SOP.
  13. How many first year students for Fall '15?
  14. Do you know the reason the school is bringing back the interview process? Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.
  15. Anyone currently attending? I really would love some insight on the admission process and the program itself.
  16. Do you know the full breakdown on how much weight each component of your application influences their decision?
  17. I went to the open house. The graduate director said they look for GRE scores in the 50th percentile and higher. I am not sure what else I can do other than retake the GRE. It is very frustrating.
  18. I just looked at Brooklyn College's stats updated on ASHA page on October 22. I must say, they are not as competitive as they have been in the past. Found on ASHA site: GRE:Verbal reasoning: 145-168Quantitative reasoning: 139-170Analytical writing: 3.0-5.5GPA:3.2-4I had everything here and still was denied. I am now really rethinking of not taking the GRE!My GPA will be much this time around! Any thoughts? Should I retake GRE? V152 AW 4.0 Q141
  19. Brooklyn College requires GRE. I went to open house a few weeks ago.
  20. I think for undergrad certification two years supervised under a ASHA SLP would be sufficient. Praxis should be passed also.
  21. Wow! i did not know ETS admitted their GRE test is biased against women, minorities, and socio-economically challenged. I fit the criteria for all three areas of bias. It maddens me that my quant score may keep me from graduate studies in a concentration that is not math based.
  22. Yes, it is! My AW stayed the same the last two times. However, it did rise from 3.0 to 4.0 on the second try. I still did not get the desired verbal and quant scores on the second try. Honestly, I do not see why the GRE is even needed. Schools like Columbia do not require the GRE. I still believe it is no indication of how one will do in graduate school. Case and point: I already have a M.S. degree and obtained it prior to taking the GRE. My overall GPA 3.75. However, you would never guess this with my scores.
  23. This verbal score is a result of taking the GRE three times. My verbal went up and quant tanked. Quant score was 145.
  24. Having tons of schoolwork my final semester has helped me not think about it too much! I'm still optimistic. I have a verbal GRE score of 152 and quant 141 AW 4 Was advised not to retake, but I may just to try and increase quant score and AW score.
  25. I emailed the director. My application is still under review. They are still going through applications.
