  1. no. But if you have read admissions blog posts this week they mentioned that they will start giving out decisions this week. Last year they started with the MPP decisions on March 13 and ended it with MPA2 on the 17th.
  2. I have applied to HKS, SIPA, WWS, and SAIS. As far as my information goes the aforementioned schools release their decisions in mid March so, that is when we'll have to make some decisions.
  3. hey jct3329, what other schools you have applied to, and congrats on your admission. Do you plan on attending mspp?
  4. I just received an offer of acceptance from the MSPP admissions for their MPP program.I was wondering by when can we expect scholarship offers , if any.
  5. Based on my research, MPA at HKS is much more rigorous than the MPP program. Given the preconditions of admission to the MPA program, you need to have done the requisite coursework in Economics, statistics. Also one needs to have 3 years relevant experience to gain admission to the MPA program.
  6. After finishing the SIPA application on 5 Jan, there was an option to apply for certain fellowships. The fellowships had certain pre conditions attached to them, and then too the fellowship amounts weren't generous. The maximum amount , as i remember, must have been around 12000 dollars. However, I have read people mentioning on this forum that they received fellowship to the tune of 30000 dollars. I agree 30000 maybe an anomaly but it still is much more than 12000. Please explain this.
  7. Hi, SIPA has it application due date on 6 jan and SAIS has its on 7 Jan. One of my recommenders may not be able to send the LOR by these dates. Does it affect the application in any regard. Please advise.
  8. Hi, I was just curious that do WWS conduct interviews of its applicants. From what I have gathered HKS, SAIS, SIPA- schools I am applying to- don't conduct any.
  9. I already have a masters in finance and Econ from a top European school. I want to work in multi lateral agencies after my second masters. Given I have a masters already ,and I have done most of the coursework that will be a part of the curriculum at SAIS MA. However, a friend who is pursuing a dual degree at Columbia (MBA/MIA) suggested that I apply to SAIS and GPPI as they have the best networks and contacts at WB, IFC ,more often than not because of the location and alum base. Also SAIS is more generous at giving aid to incoming students than GPPI is. GPPI MPP will give me chance to study courses that I haven't done so far. My quandary lies in the fact that if I get accepted to SAIS and GPPI, and the aid is better at SAIS, then do I choose SAIS over GPPI. Remember I seek a career in International development, and I am indifferent between SAIS and GPPI in terms of reputation. Please advise.
  10. Hi, I have taken the GRE twice. I was filling out the SIPA application yesterday and came across a section that mentioned if you report multiple scores they will take highest scores from each section. This works pretty well for me since I scored 164q and 157v in my first attempt and 160q and 165v in my second attempt. I was wondering whether HKS does the same. Any replies will be appreciated.
  11. Social_kid, thanks for taking time out of your schedule to answer queries. I want to know to how is the recruiting scene for international students who want to work for multilateral organizations like world bank, UNDP. Is GSPP favored among these organizations ,or is the alumni network strong enough to be leveraged.
  12. thanks PeterQuince, I have friends doing their MPA/MPP at Goldman, Harris. Though they received offers from Harvard, they chose other schools owing to the generous funding other schools provided. They also stress more or less on the same points that you have stressed upon that I have to do more research on my post degree aspirations.

  14. Hi, I will be applying to HKS this fall. I have both my and undergraduate and postgraduate degree in economics (with more than 3 years of Work ex) that makes me an ideal candidate for MPA2 at HKS. However, while going through the course content of the MPP program, the MPP program sounds more enticing. The capstone project and Policy analysis exercise component of the MPP program adds a real world component to the curriculum. Also the MPP program offers political and economic development as a concentration, an area of interest for me . However, MPA2 has no Capstone project or Policy analysis exercise component as a part of its curriculum. Based on my research, I am a good fit for the MPA2 program ,and though I am in no way under qualified for the MPP program, I believe that applying to MPA2 bolsters my chance of admission. However, the curriculum of the MPP program sounds more exciting and interesting to me. Please guide on how I should go about applying to HKS.
  15. Hi, I was wondering which programs provide a better chance than other schools to get into organizations such as WB, UN, UNICEF etc. after completion of the MPA program.
  16. hey thanks for the evaluation; I am delighted to have a dispassionate review of my rough profile. I want a MPA for primarily two reasons. Firstly, during my undergrad and especially postgrad the program had a heavy quant focus; I want to study qualitative part more about systems, organizations and policy this time around. Secondly, my previous masters is good enough for a research position at IMF or WB group (many of my friends are working there in its research department); I want to join the a multilateral organization of the aforementioned ilk in a leadership kind of role. Which schools do you think provide a good opportunity to get recruited into multilateral agencies. Of course, I know the usual spiel that its up to the individual. But definitely there must be schools that provide an advantage when it comes to recruitment to these multilateral agencies. Also my top choice is WWS. HKS would want me to break the bank even it provides me with an admission offer with some aid. However do i stand a chance to get significant aid from HKS? Given the havoc dollar appreciation is wreaking on my rupee denominated saving even if HKS admits me financial constraints wont allow me attend there. with my profile would it be able to secure TAships or RAships to help defray some of the living cost.
