  2. Hi Sarahjack Okay so essentially yes they are going to send an automatic email with instructions to your referees asap you complete and submit your application form. Earlier there was an email id one could use only if there was a problem with uploading of the lor. Though this year they removed it. In any case you can contact them at admission@graduateinstitute.ch for any doubts or problems. Hope this helped.

  5. Thank you Though I am eagerly waiting for IHEID to get back to me so that I can actually make an informed decision with admissions and scholarships. Good luck to you too.

  8. They have 60 seats in MDev and MIA programmes. Like approx! They have taken admitted 30 students in each.
  9. Okay so I just attended the IHEID info session. I got to know that these guys received some 400 applications for interdisciplinary programmes. Out of those 60 of them were admitted while 180 deferred and others refused. Only the beyond excellent students made it to the programme in this round. More waiting!

Guess we weren't the excellent ones. this doesn't make me feel good.
  11. No problem! I applied for the same course.

  13. Well see if you have early admission deadlines or something, I think it helps. This is because a small number of students apply and chances of acceptances are higher. Having said that it's not a written rule either. Though I applied early for all my admissions in mid November and with exception to one wait listing, I received all my acceptances by mid December. So well I don't think it's a bad thing and would rather encourage you do so. Good luck.
  14. Well what I did was mention to my referees that although my date is far off, I plan to submit my application by one this specific date. So well they uploaded my LORs in that manner. Why don't you mention the same? Tell them that even though the application submission dates were far off, you wanted yourself to submit them ASAP hence asked them for the LORs early. I am sure they won't go crazy on you but on the other hand, it reflects on your sincerity. Good luck!
  15. Okay hi! I am a re-applicant myself to one of my top school. I contacted the advisor of the international admissions. He mentioned that while reapplying I should leave one para in my statement dedicating to what I did in order to strengthen my application. Therefore after writing everything I mentioned, " since my last application to the institute, I gained valuable insights.....contd" and then finally conclusion. This he asked me to do was because he said that my previous file and my present file would have been compared and then any decision would have been made. Hence this one para reflects and strengthens my candidature. I am sure luckyducky too mentions a valid point, though I think you can ask your admission counsellor by emailing them or something. I find it the best solution when in dilemma. Good luck
  16. 1. Nope you don't need to submit your parents anything if you are not depended on them for financing. In that case you will supplement your documents as in your income details, financial position and tax returns. 2. As I am financially depended on my family, I sent my dads's bank statement details of 6 months. With that I also sent the income tax returns of one year of my father. Apart from this, they need a letter for scholarship and you are all set Btw which course are you applying for?
  17. Okay hi you guys! So see for this I would suggest that you talk to the institute and email them your problem. I am sure they will get back to you with a better solution than us guys. The transcripts I received from my university did mention the grade scales so I didn't face this problem.
  18. Hi Kara! Although these guys mentioned how the references need to be in place by 15th jan but usually they extend the deadline by one week for reccos I.e. They did this last year. Though I don't about this year but still I would advice you to apply ASAP and get your referees to send in the letter by Jan 15th. Trust me you don't want the mess up later. Hope this helps!
  19. This is what I found on their website regarding regional and thematic conc. I am sharing the same with you and also posting the link too. "Students must choose 2 concentrations which they will follow for the duration of their studies at PSIA. during their first semester, students take 2 courses: 1 in each concentration during their second semester, students take 2 courses: 1 in each concentration during their last semester, students take 2 courses: 1 in each concentration A concentration in Regional Studies is highly recommended for all students. PSIA students may choose any two "Concentrations" among the following. The concentrations are open to all PSIA students irrespective of their choice of Master and are intended to complement their core curricula in relation to their career projects and the job market. Regional Concentrations Africa China and East Asia Europe Latin America Middle East North America Russia South and Central Asia Undertaking a regional concentration will also give you a definite advantage on the job market: recruiters of international affairs graduates are looking more and more to those who have acquired both a specialisation in a field combined with an understanding of the culture, history, politics and economics of a specific part of the world. And if you undertake related language training as well as to do an internship in that part of world you have studied, your professional profile is that much stronger. Thematic Concentrations Defense and Security Economics Diplomacy Emerging Economies Environment Global Health Global Risks Global Economic Policy Human Rights Intelligence International Energy Methods Migrations Project Management Students will be requested to indicate their choice of two concentrations and consult with PSIA faculty and staff prior to course registration. They will confirm their choices on the day of course registration. In total, for each chosen concentration, students must follow three 24-hour modules." 20. I don't know. I was thinking the same myself :/ Plus they usually have an fb group running for prospective students to interact with each other as well as the current students. It isn't up yet. Last year it was mid dec if I remember correctly. Maybe once it's up, we will positively know how many people were admitted to MDev.
  21. No I just saw that persons post on the other thread. Here's the link.
  22. Okay so well I just got to know that someone was indeed admitted to interdisciplinary programme. Rather MIA. Haven't found anyone from MDev!
  23. Hey! I am sorry I didn't clarify before. What I meant was that I am going to apply for two Indian development fellowships in India. I don't think so that's what you were referring to. :/
