E-submitting the CSDCAS App?
dial1010usa replied to lookwhoslp's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
You should submit your CSDCAS after you do your LOI/personal statement, your classes/GPA and your transcripts. You don't need to wait for LORs. You teachers/supervisor can submit the LOR's. Don't wait for LORs. -

ASHA Edfind realiable?
dial1010usa replied to combustiblecake's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Majority of school look at your last 60 hours GPA. ASHA has good information, they give you overall information but you need to go to individual schools website and look for their last year statistics or email them. Take your GRE when you are ready. You will get accepted at somewhere if you apply wisely. Good Luck!! -
Thanks Chandru. We have done lots of research and going for campus tour next month. Actually it would be nice to hear from current fresno students what are their opinions. Congratulations Kgomez.

Getting a job related to SLP before applying
dial1010usa replied to Meen521's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
If you are from CA take CBEST exam and this test is very easy. By passing CBEST you can get substitute teacher jobs. -
Students who are undergraduate or doing their masters, I would really appreciate if you shed some light on housing. My daughter is moving there and I need to know about safe area. We will visit there in week or two to see how it looks but any feedback will be appreciated. Any pro/cons? How much is rent for 1 bed 1 bath apt? Is it better to live with another girl? Living close to school campus is disturbing study? Better to live in a house/apt little far from campus? How is the safety there? Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Northridge SLPA program
dial1010usa replied to laurengreen1's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
My daughter finished her BSc in CD this last semester and applied to few schools and got in basically same job as SLPA. She is working with SLP. You don't need to spend $$ in SLPA as I can see you already have your Bachelors in CD as well unless you area school districts doesn't allow those jobs without SLPA. CSUN SLPA is expensive. It probably too late for you because you probably have paid your fees for SLPA. I asked same question of SLPA few months back and few people suggested not to do SLPA and still get job. I'm glad she listened to them and applied to few schools and got a job. The whole idea is to get an experience with kids. This was the thread I was talking about. -
Need advice... please! :)
dial1010usa replied to jpark089's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I think the most important thing is your GPA then GRE and then experience. I would suggest you to do post-bac program. You don't have to waste $$ for SLPA. You already have BS degree, take CBEST and get substitute teacher job in school. All they look for experience with kids. Apply lots of schools you will get job even for teacher aid if $$ is an issue. Good Luck!! -
Isn't that hard to get into PHD programs as PHD has very few seats as compared to MA/MS even though masters is so competitive to get in now a days?

Do you mind sharing what were those 2 articles about? I don't want you to get in trouble though if its confidential.

I was rejected as well ;/ I'm bummed because I just graduated with my bachelors from CSULB today! But on the other hand, I think I need more experience in the field. I only applied to CSULB and CSULA so I'm crossing my fingers for CSULA.. -
If SLPA back up plan fails what is next? Volunteer? Where exactly to volunteer? Schools? Where/what else you can ask for that? Is there any other website beside care.com?

I heard care.com is a good place, try that. Try volunteer for summer school for k-6, tutoring, etc. -

Who is still waiting to hear?
dial1010usa replied to katielea's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I'm just curious if any of you ever heard someone got accepted from being rejected. I meant to say a school accepted 30 students and then have a 30 wait listed. Its possible that all of those 30 wait listed get somewhere and out of 30 accepted students this school might not be their first choice of school. What happens then? I doubt it that this has happened but you never know :-) -
