For those who got waitlisted for UofT your status on ROSI will not change.  It only changes for acceptances.  I know there is usually movement on the waitlist so hopefully some of you will get acceptances in the next month or two.  I am still hoping on Laurier so if I get in there I will be turning down UofT and opening up a spot for someone.  So if you know someone who got into Laurier tell them to turn it down! LOL

selis - Don't worry that you would have gotten in if you'd selected another stream.  They do not admit people based on stream.  They admit them based on suitability for the MSW and the size of the specializations is random.  It looks like there are a higher number of people waitlisted for the mental health and health specialization because that is the most common specialization.  The specializations in popularity are 1) mental health and health, 2) children and families, 3) social justice and diversity, 4) gerontology, and 5) social service administration.  But again, admissions are not done by specialization.

Why would you apply to a school if you didn't think it was good enough to attend?  I would assume you researched the program before deciding to apply so why doubt your decision now?  Like you said, it's your 3rd year applying.  Personally I would be happy for the acceptance and start making plans to attend.

Wow.  I really hope my children do not grow up to be as self-centered and entitled as you are coming off here.  Your mother only has a high school education?  Your family doesn't have university educations?  So CLEARLY they have absolutely no idea what you are going through, or what stress means, or how to plan for the future, or any those things.  Your mother has devoted her life to raising you but obviously she has no possible insight into your situation because she's just an uneducated hick from Wyoming.  I sincerely hope your mother and other family members never become aware of your derision for them and their accomplishments.  And FYI, a university education can't teach class, which you've clear demonstrated here.

Did you mean to say that Program A is 14 semesters??  I don't see how that is shorter than two years...  Anyway, from reading what you wrote and your descriptions it seems obvious to me that you want to choose Program A.  Just the words you used to describe both programs, your description of Program A sounds much more positive than Program B.  Good luck with your decision!

I can't believe we still haven't heard from Laurier!  This is driving me crazy!  Every time my phone dings I jump and it's just some useless sale ad or something.  The more time that goes by, the more I am convincing myself that I will be getting a rejection later.

I know I won't be hearing until the end of the month but it's all I can think about.  I am currently watching my way through Criminal Minds on Netflix.

LP3 - As soon as it changed to February I was freaking out!  Probably more than 2 weeks though, last year the acceptance emails started going out February 21.  I didn't hear I was waitlisted until February 26.  But it will definitely be by the end of this month which is crazy!  I know I'm already into UofT but I really would rather stay local and go to Laurier.  Plus I like that it is a smaller program.  Hopefully we both get in!

I can't believe it is less than a month until the advanced standing applicants hear from Laurier!  As soon as mid-February hits I'm going to be on edge every time my phone dings signaling an email.  I go between thinking I have absolutely no chance to get in and thinking I have a good shot.  The odds are so small I likely don't have a big chance but I know I will still be crushed if I don't get in.  I know I have UofT as my back-up, which puts me in a better position than most people, and I am thankful, but I would really rather go to Laurier.  I have a chronic autoimmune disease which is not improving like we'd hoped (the reason I had to defer last year) so I would rather not have to add commuting on to the already heavy stress load of doing my master's while raising 3 kids!
