I think I would have gotten some applications in sooner if not for GRE and app fees. I had to structure a budget around when we got paid to determine when to send things. Fortunately, I got them all in under the wire (at least the apps themselves) - the GREs sometimes came a week to two weeks later.
I was kind of hoping my GRE (verbal) would play a bigger part in my admissions. It may yet, but I'm seeing people with lower GREs accepted into some top programs.
I'll bit. My top professor choice is Glenn Penny (at Iowa). He's a transnational historian of German culture. His interests seem to align very closely with my own.
It is frustrating to not have heard anything. Just gotta keep your chin up and hope for the best. The floodgates will open soon, I hope. Just hope a POI likes me enough to fight for me.
I just checked all my applications. They all say "submitted" or under review or something to that effect. No links to anything else. Maybe I'm still being considered.
