  1. Fridays have been somewhat slow this cycle, especially the mornings. Though if I recall, there's usually a flurry of activity late afternoon.
  2. I applied for history, KB. Also, sent you a message.
  3. That was a tough one too in that it was 500 words or less if I recall. I really had to trim mine to get it in under that.
  4. That's good to here girlscoutcookies. Iowa is very high on my list, because a professor there works on almost exactly what I want to do. He did tell me, unfortunately, that we is not on the adcomm. sad trombone.
  5. Oh boy. George Washington's on my list too. As someone said before, no whammy! Also, congratulations Telkanuru
  6. Realistically I'm not sure any of my schools will announce today. Maybe Rice.
  7. I have a practical question now: How do you write the email asking for feedback? Anyone have any experience?
  8. Congrats to those admitted to Kent and Indiana. Indiana seems especially tough.
  9. ill share my email: I am sorry to inform you that we cannot recommend your admission to the graduate program in history. We have given your application close and careful consideration. Our decision is based on a full assessment of the evidence presented to us. We received nearly 150 applications for 10 places in our incoming class, and the department is unable to offer admission to every qualified candidate. Despite the unhappy news this letter brings, my colleagues and I wish you the very best and thank you for your interest in Indiana University. If you have any questions concerning your application, please email us at histadm@indiana.edu. Yours sincerely, John H. Hanson Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies JHH/ch
  10. I talked to my sister who is currently in a PhD program in Economics. Her schools didn't notify her until almost 3 months after people posted admissions. Who knows how these things work? It is incredibly frustrating though.
  11. Upvote Chiqui, upvote.
  12. Exactly! That's the way I'm feeling. Acceptances have now trickled in for half of my schools and I haven't heard anything. It's incredibly frustrating to not be able to know anything. At what point does one break down and email the DGS/POI for information? My letter writers have said to do nothing but this waiting is killing me.
  13. Josh, I feel your pain. I just keep having to tell people "I don't know a thing!"
  14. Congratulations Kblooms! ::adds another school to his list where he's in limbo:: What is your field?
  15. What can you do if you expect you may be wait listed (ie not heard a peep)? At what point is it acceptable to email a POI?
  16. Or Kant
  17. I'm with you Leventel. I'd like to hear from two of those three as well. Who'd you apply to work with at RIce/IU?
  18. Congrats to the Southern Mississippi, Alabama and Houston acceptances.
  19. It's good to remember that Aubstopper. I'd just the like the option of being able to assess.
  20. And the silence continues... no emails from any program, yet there are the occasional postings of acceptances.
  21. Kansas is notifying! WHAT?!?
  22. That's good advice too mvlchicago. I hadn't considered that they weren't giving slots.
  23. Congratulations Chiqui! That's great.
  24. I certainly hope not Chiqui, as I haven't gotten anything for a few of my schools where my status hasn't changed. Maybe it just means waitlisting.
  25. Looks like UVA is doing some announcing.
