  1. If I don't cry during the first twenty minutes of the Last of Us movie, the movie is a failure. FAILURE.

  2. WAKE ME UP WHEN THIS IS OVER.

  3. I always catch myself pausing and praying under my breath at random moments of the day for an acceptance. Please, for the love of all things good, accept me.

I think they need a special place for us in the loony bin.

  4. Dude Bioware forever. I finished ME 1-3 and have been a huge fan of their KotoR and NWN games. Haven't played Dragon Age yet and barely started Bioshock Infinite (thank you PS+), because I've got some serious back log. The ME series too good.
  5. Same to you! I hope we both get acceptances in the very very very very near future!
  6. Honestly, if they all told you to talk to WES, you're going to have to keep pestering them. Worst case scenario, I would explain the situation to the graduate dept you're applying to and send them the original transcript for that program. WES is pretty awful with correspondence, especially when it's regarding an issue that would hassle them. I hope things turn out ok.
  7. As far as I'm aware, they don't interview, but I'm applying for master's programs. I'm not sure if the protocol is different with PhD applicants (if you are one).
  8. I've personally used this one http://www.sfsu.edu/~gradstdy/gpa-calculator-sfsu.htm. Also, most US schools go by the same grading system. The only differences would be credits (semester vs quarter).
  9. If your grade is A- (letterwise), it would still be considered a 3.7, generally. But, of course, the estimate isn't really 100% accurate, which is why you have to use a credentials service. Also, only one school I applied to required a credentials service, but it allows you to send the same grade report to multiple schools if you want to. Most schools require WES anyway, but I would check with the schools you're applying to. I didn't apply to anywhere outside of the US, so I don't know if non-US schools will require a credentials service.
  10. Anyone want to play online Cards Against Humanity with me? (Link and PW below)

  11. YAY! Fellow Marine Sci applicant!! I applied to only two schools (UNE and UMich). I haven't heard anything from either of them . Let me know when you get accepted somewhere! Also, I've been to the Bodega Marine Lab in UC Davis, and I have to say that I love it there! Who were you hoping to work with? I hope you get in!
  12. Unfortunately, if you leave the college campus and immediate surrounding area, the neighborhoods can be pretty sketchy. Honestly, Culver City seems to me to be the safest of those options.
  13. Sorry, I should have provided more details. My school (and a bunch of other Canadian schools), like you said, had its own conversion system, which you had to convert using hours spent in lab weekly etc. Unfortunately, it's really complicated, especially if courses have been altered over the course of your undergrad/masters. Most American grad schools either do the conversion in-house or require you to send it to a credential's service (WES or other). If you're looking for an estimate though, you just take the overall letter grade (for me 81% was A- = 3.7 GPA) and convert it to a GPA.
  14. I had to deal with this as well. Unfortunately, you have to send this to a credentials service. The most commonly used/accepted one is http://wes.org. Warning: Costs $$$ *sigh*
  15. I've never tried going birding before!! That actually sounds like a ton of fun! Maybe I'll see more than mourning doves if I actually try. (Also is that a nudibranch in your profile pic?? I love nudies.)
  16. Not a day goes by where I don't think that honey, almond butter, bananas, and chocolate should have a giant orgy.

Hehe, thank you for the early morning chuckle :)

  17. I RAGE QUIT THIS GAME AS A KID! I used to play tons of MSDOS games too. Like Hugo's House of Horrors. It used to make me cry. Revisiting this would definitely be fun. Now considering revisiting some other MSDOS point and click/typing adventures too. This is a wonderful idea. @RogueSenna Playing Hotline Miami (Read as: Ragequit Central), Last of Us, Tombraider (the most recent one), Assassin's Creed II, Bravely Default, and finishing up SMT IV. (I know that's a lot, but I tend to play a ton of games in small increments due to rage-quitting.) Going to try LoL maybe?
  18. These suggestions are all awesome. Thanks, errbody. I already work out twice a day though (getting swole, yo) and my video games have failed me. I keep checking my email and the results page here. My friends are telling me that I should just live in Disneyland or something. Perhaps I should try reading more. Maybe I just need to take an extra long hike... or go camping.
  19. I'm taking (read as: NEED) suggestions. I can't even play video games without being sidetracked by thoughts of acceptances/rejections. I need something completely consuming. HALP.
  20. It's been so long since I submitted my applications that it feels like the whole process was a hallucination.

A very long, unpleasant hallucination. With the way waiting has stretched out my perception of time, it feels like a lifetime ago though!

  21. My friend just posted 60 photos of herself at a restaurant in Taiwan that sells LARGE penis-shaped cake pops. I can't stop laughing.

  22. I just learned to tell my dad instead, and word will eventually get to my mom. By that time, it won't have as much impact... either that, or I say nothing.
  23. California: complains when there's no rain and, when there is rain, doesn't know how to deal with it.

SoCal is one of those places where it doesn't rain enough for people to justify buying an umbrella and carrying it around, but it rains just enough so that it's hilarious when they don't. But hey, I'm in LA and I wear waterproof midboots and carry a totes umbrella around on a near-daily basis, JUST on the off chance I get to have that schadenfreude.

For some reason, I'm always prepared for the rain. Maybe years of living around the great lakes has made me a little more weather-wise.

The only reason I even own something warmer than a fleece hoodie is because I did my undergrad in the Bay Area. Southern Californians don't weather good.
