Random question: did any one else have technical issues when submitting their application? I just realized my question was never answered by DAAD (funny in its own way) but I know my application was completely submitted.
-
Thanks for all of your information!
-
I'm really curious to know if the delay in status change (it has been weeks since mine changed) means anything.
-
Someone also stated we would get results in 7 (business) days. I'm not sure every process is the same.
-
Just to clarify: reserved candidate status does not mean you will get the grant. If people drop out / turn down the grant, then you *may* get the grant. It is no guaranteed. It is still an honor though!
-
What did you apply for? And from where?
-
My guess would be that, since another user alluded to the fact that we are given a certain amount of points, it would simply be X number of people, based on point value. This is of course, a guess. "selection made" has been proven to mean nothing other than that your status has been determined (but not what that status is).
-
Reserved candidate is its own status. If you have rejected, I would assume you are not waitlisted. But again, DAAD has been changing things up and someone said previously that a friend was rejected but later (in May) was awarded the grant.
-
I'm sorry! Wait list status is its own form of hell (in my opinion).
-
Mine still says selection made, but I'm not applying for your award. Maybe they are transferring it to funding? ONE COULD ONLY HOPE. Summer Language Grant, DAAD NYC, Status: Selection Made
-
I read somewhere that it is a combination of budget cuts (that is awful) and reallocating money to refugees (which is an amazing thing DAAD is doing if that is true).
-
I think a lot of their funding has been cut/reallocated. I was looking at the research grants and they completely cut the second deadline (May).
-
I love this idea! We can also use our status option if people don't want to keep re-writing it. Intensive Language Grant, DAAD NY, portal status: selection made
-
Your country (for me NYC) because sometimes the offices follow the German schedule and shut down and the German one. I also check twitter. I also am a bit crazy as I'm on spring break and have nothing else to do...
-
I edited to clarify (sorry I'm on mobile). They always update their Facebook when they close so I'll check there.
-
It is in some German states and if daad Bonn is in charge of the portal we won't hear most likely. I know my uni closed on Thursday when I was there.
-
Germans usually take Thursday through Monday off for Easter, so today could be our last results day for this week.
-
I hope they do this! I would love to know exactly what got me rejected.
-
Editing to clarify: Selection Made either transitions into accepted (funded) or rejected. HOWEVER, there is no way to tell until a final status is determined (funding or application rejected). Last year, people had selection made that converted to funding or to rejected. Some people last year (or the year before, you can see it if you look through the old forum) had it go from application submitted => selection made => rejected => selection made => rejected. I personally will be waiting to celebrate if I get "funding" on the portal until I have an official email. But I HIGHLY doubt I will get funded, since I'm on the higher end of the A1-B1 spectrum and I doubt DAAD would want to give me funding over someone newer to German, but I don't have any statistics for that.
-
I'm sorry about your rejection! Fortunately, I know asking questions doesn't impact our status, but it doesn't necessarily make the process any easier or reduce anxiety. Last year or the year before, I recall statuses changing to rejection then back to selection made but no one ended up having a different outcome if I remember correctly. I think they may have wanted to send emails first (which came from New York). i have no idea what the process this year will look like.
-
According to the information I dug up, language grant students heard back 2-3 weeks after Study/Research applicants. I don't know if that'll be the same this year as it is all online now.
-
Oh wow! I didn't even know they did waitlisted candidates.
-
No change here either.
-
Sorry Abyssus! I hope something comes along for you as well! Are you a US applicant?
