Good Luck Sarab! You've been as supportive as anyone can be from behind a keyboard! I know it's hard to say online what your preference is, but do you think you know where you're going to end up? Michigan seems exciting, but that's probably because I already live in Los Angeles, and am used to the nice weather. I'm excited about Chicago, but that may change after I realize I'll be freezing! I currently walk to campus 3 miles away in shorts most days.

Im interested in this as well.
-
Oh yeah me too. Damn I need to do that.
-
WTF is up with Columbia?? The application was due December 3rd. How can it possibly take this long to reject me?
-
Whoops sorry Daykid, I didn't mean to give rep points for a rejection.
-
I agree!!! Also, I've sent them 3 emails asking them if they had received my transcripts since they never updated it, and got zero response.
-
what is up with Stanford? did they notify all wait-listed and accepted? good luck on the list too! pulling for you.
-
just wanna say thanks to everyone for the support. Good luck to those waiting. fingers and toes crossed for you all.

Thanks everyone! I already handed out my reputation points today, but I'll get you all later! I'm really excited right now, even though I know it's just the MA.
-
denied admission to the PhD program at Chicago, but offered the MA in Latin American Studies at half tuition. Im excited now!! It will be a battle between Georgetown and Chicago, but I really want to work with a prof. at Chicago, so that will probably tilt the scale, especially if I get no FA from Georgetown.
-
Thanks Coba, I'm hoping that I'll be able to really increase my CV with my MA work.
-
I know this is somewhat off topic, but have you heard of Prof Rizvi at Georgetown? I read an article of his on Islamic youth in hip hop, but I think he also researches political/religious movements in Pakistan. Did you receive any positive feedback from professors that you contacted with your research proposal? Stanford obviously thinks you're qualified enough to consider. That's saying something! I'd be more inclined to think that you fell into the trap I fell into, applying to programs attached to assumed prestige rather than really scrutinizing fit and relying on POI feedback.
-
Oh Wow! Lol, I would have been so excited to receive that package and then be so disappointed! I have to believe that if they take the time to do that, you stand a pretty good shot. It must be gut-wrenching! You've got some excellent schools to choose from, I wish you all the best! fingers crossed.
-
Hopefully it means something good NWNH. Keeping my fingers crossed that you hear what you hope for.
-
yeah let me know what they say.
-
Thanks all. No biggie, I figured it was coming.

'Your application has been received and carefully reviewed. We very much regret to inform you that we cannot extend an offer of admission." Thanks NYU. Boohoo.

Are you saying that your program has a 100% placement rate to TT positions for it's graduates? That's spectacular! Pm me the school please, I should like to verify this. -
Sorry Faulty, do you still have Vandy to hear from?
