  1. Congrats! From what I can tell, international applications get processed once the Canadian applications are through. I don't know how that effects my chances (what if the Canadians fill up the cohort?). Either way, I don't expect to hear from them for a while.
  2. My status changed to review in progress, still not recommended for assessment, but we are getting there.
  3. I'll send mine scenic postcards from the place I land in, hopefully. Anyway, I know one of them is very expressively sensitive about such stuff so I would never send him a fancy item.
  4. Yeah, very likely that they have received tens of emails already. Nobody will think you're weird for doing that, they must be pretty used to such emails.
  5. Yeah, I called that phone number and that is the exact number that ate up my 3 months worth of prepaid credits Anyway, thanks a lot, b39 and socialshawn. I actually tweeted them in the mean time and the person who manages their twitter told me that she will try to get answers from the Admissions Office. I will wait for that to unravel before emailing.
  6. It is an admissions question. One of my transcripts that was listed as "received" before now shows up as "received" and "not yet received" (there are two lines for the same transcript, curiously). I wonder what's up. Also, how can I find out who the person in charge is? This is my program: http://www.yorku.ca/graddvst/contact.html Should I email the address here?
  7. Argh, I just managed to get an representative after waiting a looooooooong time in the queue and then what happens? My prepaid phone runs out of credits (I am calling internationally). WHY can't they just accept emails?
  8. Not a MSW applicant but is anyone else unable to reach York University by phone or is it just me? Every time I call them, all I get is a prerecorded menu on how to check your application on MyFile and then the system hangs up. I cannot get to a real person through the Admissions menu.

  10. I really think that once we advance high enough as a civilization, LORs will be a thing of past. Like polio.
  11. ^I ended up writing an email that borders on 'angry' (which I probably shouldn't have), so the entertainment is set to continue. I love my life.
  12. My job kind of does it. I've just had a work crisis a couple of hours ago (right, on a Sunday), which took my mind off of the grad school stuff. Just can't wait till I get out of here
  13. There will be some plagiarism here. 14. My status is *still* preliminary review required. For all the suffering they have caused me, the next update better be acceptance.
  15. Taylor Swift was in Valentine's Day with Anne Hathaway Anne Hathaway was in Les Miserables with Hugh Jackman Rachel Griffits, Catherine Keener
  16. My choices were 1) International Economic Policy (IEP) 2) International Organizations and Global Public Policy (IOGP) 3) International Development Policy (IDP). Does anyone know whether the cluster choices have much effect on the selection process? Or do they just help the department place you in one of the streams after you are admitted to the program? Well, that is something to consider. Their application processes are relatively simpler and many of them don't even require application fees or references.
  17. I obviously come from a somewhat different academic environment but I have to ask: 11 applications mean 33 academic references. How do people manage to arrange that many?
  18. That is both awful and hilarious. I guess I might steal it for comedic purposes later.
  19. Hey all. Mine is still "Preliminary review required" , as I spoke to a couple of you over private messages. I went ahead and phoned them this morning and they told me that everything seemed fine with my application and that my application status would be updated as everyone else by the end of next week latest, which is the 7th. In that case, I will be pretty surprised if I hear a decision on my application on the 10th. Well, we'll see. I personally applied to only two programs in Canada (North America, actually). The other program is Development Studies at York University, which closed its applications only a couple of days ago. So I don't expect to hear from them for a while either. @lahdeedah, as far as I know, schools in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK still accept applications. The latter two offer 1-year masters and usually even the top schools in the UK (perhaps with the exception of Oxford and Cambridge) are pretty easy to get in, especially in social sciences fields.
