My friend tried hiding this website from me when he saw that I've been on it. Lol. Maybe I'm an addict! Clearly not coping well, as I cannot sleep right now

I'm expecting almost all rejections. I'm already guaranteed a spot in a master's program at a good school for my field (CS), so I only applied to top tier schools for a PhD, plus two schools in cities I'd like to move to. I'm not surprised that I've only gotten rejections so far!

Thanks! I think I'll email her again at the end of the week. UMass started sending out acceptances... I'm nervous, haha. If nothing else, I got into their master's program. Maybe I can work with this professor if that's what I end up doing?

Ah, the countdown! I'm doing it by months for now. :3 Once February ends, I'll do weeks, then days when I get to April! Our semester is short this year. I'll be done with classes before May! (This is weird for at least UMass, I don't know about other schools)

Wow, I made a dumb title for this post...

"How are you coping with the torture of waiting?" I'm not. At least, not well. XD I still have a semester of undergrad left, so I'm keeping busy. I finally got stung by the senioritis bug, which is a shame because I'm taking very interesting classes! I wish I wasn't so lazy this semester...

A professor from one of the universities I applied to (my current university!) said that she's new to the school and was interested in my CV, but saw I hadn't applied to work under her. She asked me to let her know if I was interested in any of her research projects. And I am! The thing is, I'm still waiting to hear back from other schools. So I responded with a vague message saying that I am interested, but need to wait to hear back. (Quite frankly, I'd be delighted to do this research... but I've been at UMass forever and want to leave!) She never responded to this message. =/ Should I wait until other schools have contacted me, then message her again? Or should I message her now (it's been over a week) to reaffirm my interest, perhaps going into more detail about the projects? Is UMass going to think worse of me for waiting on this? Am I pretty much in at this point, or not? This is all so confusing! Also, why did no one tell me about this in any "preparing for grad school" talks on-campus?! =P

Did you get the decisions separately from CMU? I applied to LTI and CS. The rejection I got was from SCS, but signed by someone specified to be from the LTI. Maybe there's hope? (There's actually no hope, this school is quite the reach for me. XD) The rejection e-mail mentioned 300+ students applying, so I imagine that it is specifically about the LTI and not CS.
