  2. MSE in ChemBE for the fall! Has anyone else heard about getting information for registration and orientations? I talked to one coordinator saying mid/end of May, but I'm kind of anxious about figuring things out now
  3. Could you post the link for the thread? I'm having trouble searching for it. Thanks! Found it!
  4. No I haven't gotten anything other than the e-mail with contact information for the other students. I e-mailed Ms Qualls about it and she said to expect something later this month.
  5. Bringing this forum back to life! Recently accepted for ChemBE for the fall. Anyone else attending?
  6. It's been a terribly long, stressful, ridiculous application season. But it's officially over. And I would say worth the effort. Phew. Sent in my acceptance. JHU ChemBE class of 2016(ish)!!

  7. Thank you all for your replies! Makes me feel better about leaning towards the research path. Would it be normal to write and present a thesis for research that may not be fully completed? I'm sure I can get this information from an advisor, but I actually haven't accepted my offer yet (making sure the finances are in order first) so I don't really have access to someone. I really appreciate all the help.
  8. I'm trying to make the decision between a "courses-only" (10 classes) and a research (6 classes + research) path for my masters degree. I would love to do research as I enjoy that more than taking courses, but my concern is that I wouldn't be able to finish my research in the two years it would take to finish the course work. My scholarship will only sponsor me if I am a full time student taking courses towards completion of my degree, which definitely won't go past the two years. It was suggested to me to find a lab to work in on the side, not as something towards my degree, but I'm assuming that wouldn't work out since the positions will probably be saved for people that need it for their degree. Any relative experiences or advice?
  9. Thanks for the reply! I've been looking at the Carlyle. I like the fact that it has a garage, close to Homewood, and utilities are even included in the rent ($850 studio) - Do you remember anything about it worth commenting on?
  10. Anyone know of any neighborhoods/apartment complexes around the JHU campus that aren't dominated by undergraduates? Trying avoid that scene.
  11. That's the website I have been checking. No messages. I think the status will be most updated via e-mail.
  12. I honestly can't even remember. All I recall is running around my room looking for my laptop because I first saw the e-mail on my phone and wanted to make sure I was reading it correctly. Then started crying and woke my roommate up and called my mom (who of course said, "I knew you would get in!") and then texted my boyfriend and then sat on the floor so I could breathe a bit. [Mind you this was my FAR OUT OF REACH school that I never expected to be able to get into. Ever.]
  13. ... I got into Johns Hopkins?! Pray this isn't a mistake ><

  14. I get e-mail and letters from NYU Poly as well. I applied when they told me they'd wave my application fee. But now they keep e-mailing me about tours, etc. and those heart attacks are starting to get to me...
  15. I've applied to 4 MS programs and one M.Eng program with deadlines in early January (one deadline was last weekend), haven't heard back from any of them. One of the programs is running on a rolling admin basis, while the other programs have no set dates for when they will release decisions. I've noticed that most decisions will be released end of March through out April. I received an e-mail yesterday from a POI at one of the schools informing me that he saw my application/is interested in me (or something), so my assumption is that the review committees are just starting to go through the applications. I'm also noticing more Masters results trickling through and PhD results slowly fading away. Don't fret, there's still time!
  16. Got an e-mail from my POI at Penn State - guess I actually have a chance! =)

      Good luck!! :D

  17. I actually sent an e-mail today. It was to a non-specific e-mail address, the "enroll" e-mail (not specific to any department or level of education). I got an e-mail a few hours later and was told that my application was being reviewed by the BME department. Although, the reason I e-mailed was because the department is following rolling admission and it had been 6 weeks (to the day) since my application was put under review so I figured why not. The website has had the same thing up saying that my application is under review. The "deadline" for applications isn't until September so I don't have a time by when I should be hearing back. So the waiting continues...
  18. She also added a "please stay in touch" but I don't know how
  19. Maybe I'll pitch it to the admins. ....... After this season is over. Anyone have any ideas for protocol when contacting a POI? I just received an e-mail from mine saying there might be a position open in the fall but she's not sure and good luck on my application. I feel like most people have ongoing communication with their POI. Anything I should do? I kind of want her to like me enough to contact the admissions board about me if we talked more. I was hoping that would give me a better chance of getting in
  20. Yeesh well I hope I get your sister's luck! I had a dream recently that I got accepted to my dream school. Then I told myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. So I "woke up" and found out that I got rejected from that school. Devastated. But then I actually woke up. And I'm still stuck in limbo. Torturous inception
  21. You make a point, the schools I've applied to will be closed as well! Phew. That actually makes me feel a lot better haha thanks! I love Shameless. I started watching it a couple of weeks ago, but made the mistake of introducing it to my boyfriend. Now I'm not allowed to watch it without him... and we're snowed in in different houses Well if you ever figure that out, do share. I hear I may have much longer to wait
  22. Work/Classes are canceled tomorrow here at UMD. I have a feeling I'm going be spending all day on here... Anybody have any shows that I can stream to distract myself instead?
  23. Anyone have any ideas if there's a period of time you should wait to e-mail and ask about your status? Going on 5 weeks for rolling admission..
  24. I've been told to stop logging on, but I think I'm addicted. It's like a car crash and I just help but slow down a bit and look at everything that's happening. Jealous of people getting accepted and feeling bummed about people that don't get into their dream schools. They should set a limit for how many times you can check results...
