  1. Hi nihdi05! I heard from them last Thursday and I guess they have people waitlisted bc they asked me to answer by April 1st. Keep your hopes up!!
  2. Hey! No, I haven't received anything from MIT yet, nor acceptance nor rejection... Congratulations to you!!!
  3. I got my first rejection last friday!! Great way to start the weekend! It's ok tho, it was not my first choice.
  4. The price/quality relationship is OK. It is mega cheap and at the same time it is horrible!
  5. aryt13, I understand your rage, if everything you are stating here is true you have worked very hard to get where you want to get. It is an enormous disappointment when we are denied what we think we deserve. The problem here is that nobody owes you anything. You have an impressive resume, but to tell you the truth so do I and may other people out there. I have worked very hard to get into MIT or Harvard but entry is not guaranteed, I am competing against some of the brightest people in the world who hold a resume as impressive as mine or more. Besides, the adcom not only looks for impressive resumes but a fit in terms of research interests and personality. Yes, I believe personality is a huge factor, nobody wants to work with a person who is far from humble and might get enraged over certain problems. You worked hard and tried to give your best, but I assure you that so did I during my undergraduate and professional degrees. And many other people out there. Resilience and the ability to accept failure and move on is one of the characteristics they are looking for. I am very sorry to hear your story, but you can try next year as well, and I believe this might be one of the biggest lessons life might teach you.
  6. Both make you not to think about any decision that you are awaiting.
  7. My work is based on all-nighters. I can't do anything on the morning, like Gnome. I feel absurdly slow and with the sun shining outside, I can't concentrate. Sometimes I go to work after a whole night of studying or drawing. During my time in University there have been weeks when I have been able to sleep like 1 or 2 hours per day. It's only horrible when you think about it afterwards... because during the proccess you are so busy that you don't really feel your body. lol. Anyway, if I am training hard in the gym I can't do this, I need 9 hours of sleep (otherwise I will be suffering from horrible body aches until I sleep properly) and the need of sleeping usually comes early. So if I want to regulate my sleep times I go to the gym.
  8. A series of gun shots? I hope everybody around you is OK! Tell us about it! I am currently using a MSI laptop. The relationship between price and technical charasteristics is very good, so check them out. Previously I had been using a iMac, a HP laptop and before this, an Acer laptop. My HP laptop is 10 years old and it is still working fine, so based on my experience, I recommend the HP brand without any doubt. Anyway, if you have the money, a Mac Book Pro is a good option. It is not going to give you any problem, whether technical or related to usability or configuration. They are as smooth as silk.
  9. I "am" an ENFJ. Nobody got an E? My type is the type of Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey. What am I doing in Architecture? lol
  10. I got sick! Lots of hours spent sleeping... I recommend it to you all!
  11. Hi all! Anyone heard something from MIT SMarchS?? I'm very nervous! I saw that some acceptances already came out for the MArch programme.
  12. What is the average GPA in U of Toronto? Is it a rough University with rough programmes? If they answer is yes you might have a chance.
  13. Noo!! Too much money spent on transcripts and application fees.... and on mailing the documents in extremis so that they arrive on time! I applied for 5 and if I don't get into any of them, next year I will only apply for one. It is either that school or no school at all.
  14. hahaha at least they translated your transcripts to English, klondike! I had to hire a translator...........................
  15. I would say, focus on your portfolio and put passion and clear ideas in your SOP. If necessary, get a job for some time, and try to get in in places with reputation. Fight to get where you want to get! Don't settle for less and don't be afraid of effort and hard work, it pays off. Good luck everyone!!
  16. In my Uni the average GPA is 5.7 out of 10... that would be like 2.2 or 2.3 out of 10.
  17. I am an Architect and a EECS student. Outside this, I pretty much enjoy listening to Opera and anything that ends with -boxing (Boxing, Kickboxing, Thai Boxing).
  18. Hello! I'm applying for this program and I would like to know if anyone knows how it is compared to other similar programs, like those at MIT or Harvard about Computation in Architecture and Design! Did anyone apply as well?
  19. Hey guys! Did anyone apply to this program?? Does anyone know about the courses offered? There is a bit of info in the webpage and I can picture how would it be like more or less, but I'd love to know more!
  20. I thought that when applying to a PhD if you are not quite ready but the Department wants you, you would be admitted into a Masters degree... no need to apply separately. Or maybe this changes from Uni to Uni... I would ask her if it would be possible to accept you into a Masters with your PhD application. And I wouldn't get into any program that is not a great fit... you have to be filled with what you are doing, otherwise it is a waste of money and time. But that is just my opinion.
  21. Hi all!! Who has applied to MIT SMarchS program?? I applied for the Computation group! I know it is early to hear about the decisions but I am already very nervous!
