  1. Yeah, I was one of them that got the email. I knew it was a mistake - but it still made me jump a little with a second of "Really?" followed up with "you know better than to think anything other than it as a mistake". But, if this was your first year applying, I can see how it would be believable instead of an error by the University.
  2. I wouldn't expect to hear from UofM yet. They rarely do interviews. It wasn't until mid- to late-February that I received feedback from them last year. Unless they have changed how they want to process students, do not lose hope yet. It is still very much early days with them.
  3. Side note for all of the posters here! I welcome you and there is also another thread for Clinical applicants for Canada as well - Look up Clinical Canadian 2017. I could not find it for the life of me and happened across it the day after I started this thread. I still look forward to more discussions here. Good luck to everyone!!!!!
  4. I think it is still early for most schools. I don't expect to hear from UofM about an interview (if they do one) for another week or two. New Brunswick will be at least another three weeks. McGill, well that was much earlier than I expected to hear back about. I won't be contacting any prof's until at least a week after I expect interview invitations to be sent out. I would say, look at when most students are being contacted for interviews and add a few days at the earliest. They need time to look at your application. Patience is key!!! Remember, some profs will not be doing interviews at all if they have someone already in mind for who they want to select, so not being asked for an interview is not a end-all scenario. I was in top two for selection at Manitoba last year, there was a flip of coin almost in deciding which student to choose between, and there was no interview at all. Don't lose faith!!!!
  5. Received an phone interview request today from McGill counselling (project). Yay!!!
  6. Hello! Somehow, this year, no one seems to have started a Canadian Thread for applicants for Clinical and Counselling Psychology. I figured, I would start! Applied to: University of Manitoba (Clinical), Queen's (Clinical), McGill (Counselling), New Brunswick (Clinical) and Wisc-Madison (Masters/PhD - Counseling) No, news yet except for Wisc-Madison PhD - rejected, but one of my referees didn't put in my reference in time (a week after the deadline) Let's start talking because I think we all need an outlet and to find out from each other what is happening in the world of invites, acceptances and rejections. (PS, if someone does know about another link - 'cause I cannot find my fellow applicant peers)
  7. Apparently there were some answers required from the tri-council for some of those on the alternate list before the status could be updated. That was for UofM, not sure about other schools.
  8. My status has been changed from "recieved" to "alternate". I have not been notified from the University as to why there was a delay. Again, good luck!!!!
  9. Also, from the NSERC Q&A site I have a quote that directly relates to those that still have a "recieved" status. The site says: " Institutions must ensure to update the statuses for all applications received in accordance with the competition results by April 21 at the latest." Not that it really helps without knowing why there is a delay. I have emailed graduate studies for some additional information. Will post when I know why for UofM. Good luck everyone!
  10. Thanks! I haven't seen before where it still says recieved. Congrats on the award! What program?
  11. Also, remember to keep checking every couple of days if you are an alternate. They might change your status but not send you an email that it has changed.
  12. I got offered by Lakehead, alternate by Saskatchewan, and still not posted for Manitoba. I will be declining for Saskatchewan when I get off the waitlist... I will not be attending there. If anyone was posted for Manitoba, let me know as it would be good to know if others got an answer there while I what to find out what they say... Two years ago I had also applied. I was declined at the other schools but wait listed for Manitoba. I was offered off of the waitlist in around the 7th of May. Do not lose hope to those that were wait listed, you have a good shot to get the offer. Remember that you are still receiving offers as those on the waitlist might also decline... eg. If no one declined on the first round until the 21st day and all but 10 accepted the award and you are 11th on the list, you might not get an offer until 42 days after April 1st. Everyone has the opportunity to hold the offer for 21 days. Be patient!!!
  13. I emailed Lakehead the other day. Apparently they are still sending out acceptances. Not expecting anything since it is still quiet on my end from them.
  14. Thanks for posting and congrats! I've been quite nervous. I know I am one of the top two for one POI at UofM but I have no idea about where I am at Lakehead in line. Very, very nerve wracking!
  15. Let us know if acceptance is what they are calling about. ?
  16. Yep, I was in that boat last year. I was already rejected at the school but I was offered the CGS-M a month later. I did contact the school to try and, sadly, got nowhere, but it was definitely worth the shot. The next best thing is that I get to put on my CV that I had been offered the scholarship but declined. This shows that you can get external funding, which I think is an extra feather in your cap. I had one prof that wrote my main reference letter for the scholarship (my supervisor bailed at the last minute to complete the reference so I got a prof from another department to do it for me the day it was due) and I told him later that I got the award but the school didn't take me after I contacted them again and he almost flipped his lid. Sadly, in psych and especially clinical psych, it is not that likely to get an acceptance after a rejection (or a likely rejection due to no interview). If we were in biology or classics, poi's would be knocking down our doors!
  17. So I checked with the PsyD secretary (very nice), and they actually sent the request to all of the applicants regarding them starting the interview process. It was an unfortunately, badly worded email that implied that the emailed receipient was on the list to be interviewed. In actuality, it was intended to let applicants know that they were taking students this year and they were reviewing applicants for the shortlist for interviews. They will be letting the shortlisted applicants know this Thursday/Friday. I am feeling a little deflated. I have a pretty decent gpa (3.9 GPA Cummulative/ 4.02 Psych Cummulative), while mainting full-time employment + TA + Tutoring, good GRE verbal and quantitative scores plus I was offered a SSHRC last year and I have very good letters of recommendation. I'll be really bummed if I don't get an interview...
  18. Has anyone heard from Memorial (PsyD) yet about the interview dates? They had some delays with the weather, but I still haven't heard when they want me to come out... I'm getting a wee bit anxious!!!
  19. Asked in for an interview with Memorial University for their Psy.D. program. Looks like they will be taking a few students this year. Waiting on details about the interview. Crossing my fingers! First cohort should be done this year, so it could be accredited for next year.
  20. Waiting, waiting, and impatiently waiting!

  21. Applied: U of Manitoba (Clinical), Memorial (PsyD), U of Winnipeg (MMFT) Interviews (0/3): Rejected (0/3): Waitlisted (0/3): Accepted (0/3):

  22. No update yet, waiting till March for them to annouce if Memorial in Nfld are even taking anyone. Which sucks!
