My online app is filled out, transcripts uploaded it's just a matter of adding my SOP and writing sample. They need some work but I refuse to put in more than an hour here and an hour there. Plus, I work weekends I don't have the time.

My first deadline is on monday. No more deliberation. Its time to fix my citations and get this shit done FINALLY!

Nope, mostly just non-committal non-negative possibly positive emails with a piece of advice or two. I wish I could suss out the competition. Who am I up against? The profiles of current grad students look impressive but it may just be a volcano of verbiage. I can dress real pretty if I need to.

My writing sample makes me want to puke. Its filled with tiny little turds I'm sick and tired of dealing with. How's the battle going folks?

Capote is good. Serial is great! I'm hooked.

Practice and reading help. If you want to write well you need to know what good writing looks and sounds like.

I'm applying to only 4 programs because only 4 fit. 5 is fine. It's a crap shoot and so is the rest of life. Focus on your applications not on finding new programs.

I'm a sucker for Critchely's EGS lectures. Caputo is great too.

If your going to watch Waking Life you should check out Slacker to. Less philosophically relevant than Waking Life but still an awesome Linklater film. Days of Heaven or another Malick film might be worth checking out and pondering too.

You are much more patient than I am. I would have given up and smashed something.

I wouldn't worry about using a paper that the head of the department has already seen especially if you can fix it up. If anything they might be impressed with the newer cleaner tighter better version. They can see growth, development, etc. That could work in your favor.

I'm curious who are you citing for affect and ontology? Both are key to my research. I'm using Negri and Heidegger.
