  2. jillybean, you're awesome!

  4. Congrats, pea-jay! I was wondering when you would hear, given all of the recent entries on the Results page. Still nothing for me -- I am so jealous of you!

  6. Seems to me that you are in the running. I don't think they would have requested the paperwork, otherwise, as they are likely drowning in paper.
  7. I am right there with you. I, too, have lost perspective, and therefore have no answers. But, at least, we are not alone.

  10. In my experience, profs don't work over Spring Break, but admins do. So if letters are sent over Break, it's because the content was created by the profs before Break for the admins to send during Break.

  13. I completely concur with what has already been said. In my last academic job, I was second choice for them, and there were certain people who always treated me that way. Think of this like a personal relationship -- knowing that you'll be involved for the next four years, whom would you rather date?

  15. Sorry you are feeling so low -- I think it is safe to say that many of us have been there at some point. Should you not receive an admission by the time the application season is over, I suggest that you contact your top choices and see if you can get some feedback. It takes some courage, but the feedback may be quite valuable. Hang in there!

  17. I'm in a similar situation, maxwello, and I think if I could do it again, I would: retake the prep courses that the top schools require (linear/matrix algebra, stats, etc.)make sure that I aced the quant section of the GMATrekindle relationships with profs from my MBA program -- can you do any research for them?above all, build relationships with profs at my top pick schools, and see what they recommend Having said that, though, I would also take a close look at the current student body at the schools to which you applied. Some programs just may not be interested in older students, however unfair it may seem. Good luck!
  18. Why not start a new thread on this?
  19. Yes, exactly! I wasn't looking for a particular book -- I just thought it would be fun to exchange good reads. Thanks for the recommendation! Anyone else have a recommendation (or a poor review)?
  20. Has anyone read a book on grad student life worth recommending? Someone told me to read Getting What You Came For: The Smart Student's Guide to Earning a Master's or PhD by Robert L. Peters. I'm finding it informative, if a bit dated.

  23. I think this is a good idea -- good luck!

  25. So sorry for you, but glad that you are keeping your perspective. Good luck with your new direction!
