Don't be discouraged...graduate admissions are allllllllll over the place. I know people that have gotten into more prestigious universities with funding and then denied from other "safe" schools. It's not an exact science so hang in there!

Normally I'd agree with you, but it is more than double than they received last year so it still seems unusual to me. Although it could just be a sign of how competitive the field is getting every year.

Waitlisted....what are the odds?
Holly44 replied to MTBcam's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
You had to send an email to accept your waitlist status? Is this common? I was waitlisted at UConn, but was never instructed to follow up with them... -
That's bizarre. I would definitely call them and inquire about your status b/c that's not normal. I'll cross my fingers that you're actually waitlisted...

Waitlisted....what are the odds?

Does anyone know how they decide who to send admission letters to if their wait list isn't ranked? Is it just random? -

Omg congrats!!!! I'm so happy for you! :-) -
I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm not sure if you have your heart set on staying in california (where it's insanely competitive), but there are a handful of schools across the country that take spring applicants. I know it's not ideal, but it's worth a shot.

They're HOPING to get them out by the end of the month?! I love how students have to get them in by a certain date and schools don't even begin looking at them for months! No biggie, not like we're all waiting around for a huge life-changing decision...

Does anyone know which schools still currently have Spring admissions? I've only found a few outdated lists online and can't remember if I ever came across this info in any of the forums. (My mind has starting playing the "what if..." game and I would feel better if I knew I had a viable backup plan. )

Hmmm, well I think that depends upon a variety of factors. I wouldn't plan on applying there again next year b/c you will likely run into the same issue. If you don't care about going to that school and don't mind waiting a year if push comes to shove than that might be a viable option for you. I will say that 5 classes could potentially be taken in one semester so it's up to you if you want to turn down an acceptance over one semester. Maybe just think about it for a little while.

Waitlisted....what are the odds?
Holly44 replied to MTBcam's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
It really does depend on the individual students and where they choose to go. I also got waitlisted at UConn and plan on contacting them to see where I am on the waiting list. Do you think that I should email instead of call? I don't want to be annoying. haha -

Got waitlisted at UConn today which I suppose is better than a straight out rejection. Still haven't heard from any of the West Coast schools...

Financial Aid Emails Before Acceptance?
Holly44 replied to ChatterBrain's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I received a letter from Western Washington last week that I assumed was an admissions decision, but turned out to be from the financial aid office notifying me that they cannot complete my financial aid package until I'm accepted to the school. Gahhh, it was such a letdown. -
The only good thing about losing an hour today because of Daylight Savings is that we are one hour closer to Monday and possible acceptances.
-
make sure that all rejected applicants get a heartfelt letter. None of this, "Oh yeah, we forgot to tell you that you're rejected," when you call us business.
-
No idea, but I'm going crazy over here! I haven't heard anything from them other than the email about my application being submitted. Have you even heard if your application is under review at one of those three?

hmmm, I interviewed with Dr. Madison and Professor Georgina Lynch so maybe there were different interview groups?
