New York/New Jersey Schools Fall 2015
Holly44 replied to Shayy_Dee's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
It looks like NYU sent out a bunch of acceptances today according to the results page. Congrats to all! Is it safe to say that it doesn't look good for me if I haven't heard anything?! -
Haha That's exactly why I refuse to re-read mine! I know I will start picking it apart!

Kinda random, but I'd just like to say that the friendliness/helpfulness displayed in this forum makes me even more excited to work amongst you guys in this field. March is slowly creeping up on us so good luck to all of you! May you all get into at least one school!

SLP Interviews! What are they like?
Holly44 replied to SLPosteriorCricoarytenoid's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
We had to learn the definition in my post-bacc, but I don't remember having to reproduce it word by word. Also, I've heard from people that they'll also ask you to name a few language disorders and/or speech disorders so it's worth having a few already memorized. -
Man, that's awful.

Not at all!! In fact, some of the schools have multiple interview rounds so don't lose hope yet!! -
I don't see anything wrong with contacting the school regarding your place on the list. Most will usually tell you if you're at the top or not. Either way, it can't hurt you. Good luck to you!!

I started with location, looked at employment rates of the students after graduation, and then chose schools that had a reasonable ratio of accepted/applied. For instance, one of my friends applied to a school that has an acceptance rate of 4%. Those are not the kind of odds I like so I chose a handful of programs that had acceptance rates closer to 20% or higher. I also applied to University of New Mexico since last year they accepted nearly half of the applicants that applied. Just be realistic with yourself regarding your GPA and GRE scores and you'll be fine.

I'm a first year applicant as well so I have no idea. It varies depending on the school, but I've heard that some schools ask content questions as well as personal ones. It's only 15 minutes so I can't imagine it being too difficult! Good luck to you! -
I didn't apply there, but one of my friends did and all she has heard was that her application was moved to review. Chapman is notoriously unorganized so don't worry. They're probably just lagging...

Omg me too!!!! So excited!! -
I think it depends on the school. While many do follow the April 15th deadline, I've heard of some schools only giving the applicant like a week to decide. Although that could have something to do with them being accepted late as well.

Hahaha Not a bad plan! You guys should download the quizup app! It kills a lot of time

I think we're all a little neurotic at this point! I also made a sheet that contains all of the dates that my schools sent out admissions last year as well so don't feel bad. Maybe we're all just crazy type A personalities?

Fall 2015 UT Dallas Applicants?
Holly44 replied to onedayslp's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I don't understand why more programs don't allow the applicants to upload their transcripts and officially send them when admitted? It would save a lot of headaches and frustration on both ends. -
Wow, congrats!!

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere on the ASHA site that they no longer accept animal biology which is why I'm being forced to take bio again this spring.
