Both of my POIs have interesting projects and have big connections with the oil industry so it looks like it will be OK State at this point but I'm still going to visit both schools to make sure. BTW I'm still waiting on UH :/ are you going to accept their offer ?

How is OK State's O&G program in general when compared to other big O&G schools like UT Austin, Texas Tech and Texas A&M ? I really wanted to get into a school in Texas but it didn't happen unfortunately. I wouldn't think SMU was a big O&G school but is it ? I just liked it because it was in Dallas and Dallas is a lot better to live in then Stillwater, Ok

So it's pretty much at this point it's going to be between ISU or OSU. Both schools are offering me funding and both of my POIs have pretty good connections with the oil industry so which school would be better to go to if your goal is to work for an oil company in Houston or Dallas ? I'm guessing it would be OSU. Do you guys have any opinions ? I'm going to be visiting the schools in April so by then I'll make my decision. The other schools that I applied to, UT Austin, Rice, and SMU are sure rejections. Texas Tech (first rounds already got sent out and according to my POIs, they typically extend offers deep into the spring but my application is still buried with other potential students = rejection) is also another sure rejection so the only school that's really up in the air is University of Houston but I'll doubt they'll give me anything.

No I think though chemistry, if it's true then wow I can't believe he got away with it

I was talking with someone I work with who stated his brother paid someone 1,000$ to take the GRE for him. Is that even possible ? I would be scared because the risks of getting caught would be too great. Has anyone ever heard about this before ?

The person who was rejected from SMU, was the email from your POI or the department ?

Congrats ! Was it a formal email or an email from your advisor and do you have a masters ?

Anyone hear from UH ? I saw that one person was accepted.

2 people were rejected from SMU and I didn't receive anything yet. No email and nothing has changed on the website. Is this a good sign ? Or no ?

No question for you, did you submit official transcripts and your official GRE score report to the school? I sent scannned copies of everything because I wanted to save money on sending all those documents. It was my understanding that they can make a decision on your application and if admitted you can send in all the official stuff if you choose to attend

Some of the schools I'm waiting on (SMU) still haven't sent anything out yet to anyone so I'm waiting patiently even though I have two offers. Just wait and see who accepts you then make a discision

Who did you apply to work with if I may ask ? I got in last year but with no funding, I'm still waiting to hear about a TA position

I'm actually still waiting on Texas Tech but I highly doubt I'll get in since they already sent out their first wave. It doesn't matter I'm happy with Iowa and Oklahoma state. Now if SMU accepts me I'll be super happy !

I know but I got a TA offer from Oklahoma State ! So happy about that ? Anyone know anything about the school ?

Rice sends their rejections out in April and UT in late March

I'm surprised that person wasn't a first choice with those numbers. It's making me nervious too. Only have one offer so far

I also applied to UH and spoke to Jim Parker who said decisions Will be made this week. It's Wednesday already and still haven't heard anything. Who'd you apply to work for if I may ask

The professors I contacted do very similar work at Austin but the reason for that is because I have a wide range of interests and with funding being very tight I contacted as much as I could. My statement was looked over by faculty members at my college and they approved it.

I understand that I'm just saying if it wasn't for the GRE I might of been a "top" student. But yes I'm happy that at least one place is offering me money even though it isn't in Texas ?. Did you hear anything yet ? March is supposed to be the last offer month for most schools

It's still the 145, 145 ?. I retoke the test in September and did worse overall if you can believe that. It sucks because if I was in the 50th percentile I'd be a shoe in at a lot of high ranking schools. Sadly I don't believe that my scores can increase but I did get one funded offer from a so so school. I'm waiting to hear back from SMU which is my second choice under UT Austin (which I don't have a shot at). My advisor at SMU was very optimistic when she spoke to me back in November but now my application is "still being considered" after she emailed me back in January saying I'll have a decision in a couple of weeks. My advisor at Oklahoma State recommended me for admissions and since they don't require the GRE that might be my next acceptance possibly

So far I have one offer out of 7 and haven't heard anything official from the other schools. I consider myself a good student with the exception of my GRE scores my application is pretty competitive. Last year I got two offers out of 8 and they were unfunded. A lot of my advisors gave the excuse that funding was being cut
