Just got another acceptance in this morning from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Funding decisions to follow, but pretty exciting to get in to a Canadian school (that tends to fully fund all students) as an American.
Anyone want to claim the University of Arizona acceptance? Haven't heard anything from them and I'm hoping it's going out in waves...

ASU has an excellent STS program. I don't know much about their faculty, because their research is a bit outside of my focus area. But I'm currently in an STS program, and Arizona is held in very high regard. Congrats!

Just got an email from the Chair at ASU's Human and Social Dimensions of Science and Technology (HSD) program! First acceptance! Anyone know a lot about STS programs or about this school? I applied on a whim.

I feel both of your pain. I write a few sentences in my thesis, check email for Irvine invite, write a few sentences, check email for Irvine invite.
    Vicious cycle!

And my last rec letters came in yesterday (the last school sent a confirmation email today). Now all I need to do is wait...and finish writing my grad project, write abstracts for conferences, plan my Twitch streams and final deliverable schedule, and, and, and...

I should probably go do all that, haha.

Hugs to all those now playing the waiting game!

I just met with my advisor about my graduate project so once I'm done grading I'll be spending the next 3 weeks writing like a mad woman, haha.

I have exactly the same scores, and people on this forum told me they got in their top-choices with scores like this!
Would anyone be interested in reading my SoP, or exchanging them? I'm drafting mine but I have no one to proof read it, or well no one that knows what a SoP must look like.

I've never heard of a graduate department, including in English, that required a 5.5+ on the AW. If your lowest percentile score is a 70th in quant, your scores are completely and utterly safe (especially in anthropology, where we like deconstructing standards and tests). Moreover, the departments that expect significant undergrad or master's coursework in anthropology are few and far between, even in (especially in?) the tippy-top programs.
Can you get any sort of testing accommodations, or find out if any of these universities have minimum scores? Some do, I think especially among public universities. This sounds like a great background, though, so if you can figure out some way around any university-wide restrictions, I bet the departments won't hold it against you much, if at all (see: anthropologists).

That's why I'm worried, because I don't have those other qualifications (publications, solid anthro background/research...), so I feel like I need to "make up" for that in some way. (And congrats!)

That makes me feel better, thanks! I guess I should just e-mail my professors for a letter of recommendation now. I keep postponing that because I'm STILL looking for somewhere to apply to besides my top choice (which is definitely a reach). This is why it was probably not a great idea to fixate on a specific college since I was a child!

If I were an admissions officer, I would be so impressed by all of this, I probably wouldn't really care about your GRE scores...
Alas, I don't have your background, so I would care about my score

Just heard that I got a tuition waiver at NAU so I'm formally accepting admission there! Pretty cool for a terminal Master's program. Here's to not having to stress anymore (until 2017 PhD season).

Just got a call from NAU and got accepted in their MA program! I guess they are meeting next week about funding. He said there wasn't a lot but I could minimally get a tuition waiver so that's pretty good (especially since it is a terminal MA program). If I go there I'll be back here in 2017 for the PhD applications!
