  1. I just did a quick goog and haven’t read through this yet https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_research_universities_in_the_United_States
  2. I would call and then you only have to give your name if they have a final list. I might just be too paranoid tho
  3. Follow up! No harm in that, I think it’s the standard. But you may want to ask people in your field since this is the lit forum
  4. I wasn’t interviewed and was rejected at the same time as those other ones on the results board—just too blah over all my rejections to be posting them all when others are posting as well.
  5. I'm going to send it to their offices which are listed online. No, I don't think so! I'm not in a position to give gifts and I dont think people expect more than a thank you. As i've been reminded, writing recommendations is part of their jobs
  6. Stressing over little things! I've been holding off on updating my recommenders because I want to thank them properly. I think getting them a small gift and a thank you card is best, but I live very far away/in a different country so shipping will be a lot. I'm not sure if I should ship something from nearby or just send a hand-written note? I'm wondering how people generally plan to thank their recommenders?
  7. Thanks @la_mod for actually starting this thread! Seconding @LexHex with Norton's Literary Theory anthology; I'll be combing through that. And brushing up on major philosophers. Planning on doing some fluffier reading of The Cave and the Light and then diving into primary texts. Picked up Black Feminist Thought by Patricia Hill Collins the other day as well. I'd LOVE to also organize the heck out of notes and research I've got for my intended dissertation topic from previous essays.
  8. Yep, expecting this: Edit: Checked my portal and there was a rejection there.
  9. Would anyone be interested in making a forum for sharing books we plan to read before starting programs?
  10. @WildeThing did us all a solid and called today. they've not deciding but are meeting RIGHT NOW. so looks like itll be next week.
  11. Thank, this is all very helpful! I'll be thinking a lot about whether I want to pursue teaching and thus prioritize it at a school.
  12. I'm looking at a program that starts teaching in third year with ta-ing and "shadowing" then in fourth year people teach courses they've designed. I'm wondering about how this amount of teaching will be perceived on a CV. I'm also not committed to teaching so I'm not sure if I should weigh that factor too much.
  13. i love how its from feb 20 and its feb 19, at least where i am. is this acceptance coming from the future? is yale that powerful??
  14. and with that yale acceptance on the board i can only assume i will be eating a giant piece of cake tonight.
  15. Laughing so hard. I like babies and dogs. I'll take them for you!
