Also, i wouldnt take offense at being rejected from a conference at a school youve applied to: a lot of other factors — and people! — going into that decision

I asked this at another point but still feel unsure about it: if I got accepted into a conference after i submitted some apps, should i notify schools? i've only just fully gotten over a lot of my anxiety about presenting at this conference so im definitely not dropping out at this point

Yeah this is something I've been wanting to ask people about: for those who've reapplied, how do you steel yourself against the hardship of it? For first timers, if you get shut out will you apply again? I'm a first timer for PhDs and not sure I could handle the rejection and reapplication.

Yeah I feel all of my congrats are/will be genuine but also manic. like CONGRATS FOR U I AM THE WORST HAHAH As I didn't apply to Chicago, I can actually say congrats here without hating myself!

I am doing the opposite and look for apartments in the city I'm in because I am convinced I'm not getting in anywhere and I want to move regardless of starting a phd.

I dreamt last night that I was ushered into a room with others to receive my Yale letter. A bunch of people promptly left and the accepted stayed behind. I couldn't find the letter so I was like "must mean i'm in!" Turned out I was rejected and had to be ushered out in front of everyone and put on a helicopter. Total nightmare that confirms I am going crazy. I'm working on a paper and for the life of me cannot focus!!

Inside scoop! I called Columbia (because they are still saying my reference isnt in which is WEIRD AND BAD) The woman said the graduate coordinator left her position a few weeks ago and basically said it was crazy there. Wouldn't be surprised if the department got things out later than usual.
