  1. I have an interview in the AM with Media and Performance as well!
  2. Haven’t heard anything on my end, so my assumption is that it’s a no this time around!
  3. Nope, not yet! I'm assuming requests for interviews will be coming out in the next week or so, since notification is *in theory, * Dec. 1! I applied to Media & Performance, Painting & Sculpture, and Publications. Best of luck!!!
  4. Thanks! I kinda figured as much, just wondering if anyone else out there can commiserate with me. The waiting game is my least favorite one to play.
  5. Did anyone apply to the MoMA Spring internship??? Anxiously awaiting some news!
  6. Also, you may want to check out the Art History-specific forum. There's a thread about this in there as well! https://forum.thegradcafe.com/forum/66-art-history/

    Fall 2018

Woohoo!!! I'll finally be tagging along in this group of apps! I'm so excited! I'm mainly looking at PhD programs, but there are a few good MA programs on my list, as well. Current: Graduated from a state school in Pennsylvania with a BFA (two majors) and a BA in Art History. I'm an Artist-in-Residence at the moment, and working a few other jobs to save up money for apps. Area: Contemporary Latin American/American Experience: I'm a little overboard here: 4 museum internships, 3 research assistantships, 5 or 6 (small) publications, 3 conference presentations and 2 lectures, I tutored in two subjects in college, worked as a sculpture shop manager for 2 years, several volunteer experiences as artist assistant's gallery help, etc. Also, lots of exhibition history for my own work - not that it will really help me as I pursue a PhD, though. GPA: 3.75 overall, probably a little higher in the major but I don't actually know Languages: intermediate German, beginning Spanish GRE: 163V, 156Q, currently waiting on AWA scores Current Shortlist: Harvard, MIT, Princeton, NYU/IFA, Williams (MA), Tufts(MA), Rutgers, The Grad Center at CUNY (Side note, I also applied for a Rhodes scholarship, so if the stars align and that magically happened, I'd be going to Oxford most definitely) I'm hoping to actually apply to 8 as long as I can save up enough for application fees! LORs: 3 pretty dang fab LOR's from professors. (I've done a lot at my school. Very small faculty, LOTS of direct contact.) I could get another from one of my internship mentors that would also be pretty good, but I'm not sure if that or a 3rd academic letter would be best. Concerns: Even typing this all out, I'm still concerned that I'm not good enough to be looked at by places like Harvard and Princeton. Especially coming from a super unknown state school background. Is my GRE score high enough? Is my GPA high enough? Ugh. I've got enough anxiety for forty applicants, I think! I have a penchant for self-deprecation and paralyzing insecurities so this process has been a difficult one for me, regardless of the strength of my background. It's definitely been a learning experience thus far but I'm looking forward to seeing how much farther I can grow in the next few months as deadlines start rolling through!
  8. Woohoo!!! I'll finally be tagging along in this group of apps! I'm so excited! I'm a little different from you in that I'm mainly looking at PhD programs, but there are a few good MA programs on my list, as well. My main focus on schools (more or less in order of importance) have been: 1. available faculty in my area of interest 2. funding options and packages 2. availability and openness to interdisciplinary research (also if they're only academic vs. mainly curatorial programs) 3. location/support system for research (I.e., quality of library, relationship with local museums and galleries, travel stipends, etc.) 4. teaching responsibilities/availability of teaching opportunities 5. prestige of the program (this is definitely the last thing I'm looking at) How is your shortlist coming along? Mine started at about 25, and its down to 10-12 at the moment. I'm hoping to actually apply to 8 as long as I can save up enough for application fees! (yikes some of these places are expensive!) Have you attended any open houses or conducted any college visits? That's what I'm currently working on.
  9. When did you interview/receive acceptance? I interviewed about a week and a half ago and am waiting on a response in either direction now.
  10. Just received notification yesterday about an interview at Whitney!
  11. Thank you so much for the kind words! I just accepted an offer for a different summer internship program, so I am feeling okay about it! Best of luck to the rest of you who are waiting on responses!
  12. I sent an inquiry last week and just heard back that I was among the top candidates but ultimately was not offered a position. I am assuming you should all be hearing back shortly!
  13. Hello, everyone! Does anyone have any information about Bentonville, Arkansas or the surrounding area? I may potentially be ending up there for two to three months this summer and am curious about activities and general city life. From what I can find online it seems to be a smaller sized city with a bit of Southern charm, but potentially not much to do. If any of you have personal experience or know anything about it and the surrounding area, I would be more than appreciative of any suggestions or comments!
  14. I have not gotten anything! What about you??
  15. Amazing! This is incredibly helpful, at least for me - I am thinking of going this route! Though, this list is also a tad disheartening to be completely honest - I come from a small state school for my undergrad as it's all I could afford. I've done some really awesome things during my tenure there, but am wondering if it will compare to all these amazing names I'm looking up to as I'm heading into grad school.
  16. I have no news from MOMA or Whitney! I just received an offer for another museum yesterday, and they need to know my answer by Monday, so I'm a bit panicky at the moment! I think I am going to send an e-mail asking for the status of my submission.
  17. I applied to Painting and Sculpture, Media and Performance Art, and Publications. I have a funny feeling there were probably a ton of Painting and Sculpture applicants!
  18. I definitely will also report as soon as I hear anything. I'm sure we're all playing the impatient, partial-panic game! (Or at least I am...)
  19. I applied to both Whitney and MoMA. Haven't heard from either! I suppose I'm being impatient, though. What areas did you apply to?
  20. Anyone apply for Summer 2017??
  21. Did anyone in here apply this past weekend? I am anxiously awaiting notification over here!
  22. We seem to be in an INSANELY similar place in both background and future goals! I am graduating with a BFA and a BA (public university) and am looking into applying for Latin American Art programs for PhDs or funded MAs. Can we chat? I'd really love to have a friend to discuss this strange place we are both coming from!
  23. I haven't heard anything yet!
  24. Anyone apply for the summer internship???
