I know, first it's the anxiety of waiting for a decision and then getting a rejection is a whole different misery itself. It's. not. fair.

It seems like there's one of these threads every year....
Anyone else want to talk about the insane competition in our overpriced little corner of the world? Schools? Interests? Coping mechanisms?

This is my second year applying as well and as of right now I have been accepted to 1 school, wait listed at 7, and am waiting to hear back from 3. My major GPA was a 3.3 and overall GPA a 3.6. Last year I emailed the schools I got rejected from and they told me to retake the GREs. Since applying last year, I have done countless things to help my resume and increase my chances of getting into school. I spent 4 months on my personal statement, had a complete list of schools of where I was going to apply to by September with a spreadsheet of the deadlines and what was required, and did a lot of volunteering. I'm not sure where you applied, but put a lot of effort into researching the schools where you apply. For me, I looked at schools that didn't require GREs and schools that had "lower stats". It's honestly so hard to know how you're even chosen. I still wonder how I got chose over others, but I would say look at schools that don't require the GREs if yours aren't that great. You can also email schools to find out how many applications they get, how many they accept, and what the typical stats are. I hope some of this helps!

Hey guys, I know we're all anxious to have a facebook group for our program, but the point of this thread was to be easy to search. You can post what you want, but the OP asked people not to post requests in order to make searching easy, and asking if groups have been made is in the same vein, as it makes searching harder. If someone on here has made or found a facebook group, I bet they'll post it, so it might be best to just wait until your uni's facebook group is posted, or ask about it in the Applicants, Admissions or Decisions thread if you need someone to help make the group with you.

Are you trying to plan your future or something? It's not like you'd have to move or anything.    Have you tried calling the schools? It might be possible to find our your status over the phone

You are absolutely right! Why not send out denials right away? It is a generated letter, often sent by the admissions office, anyway!

Being a SLP is a dream however applying to 11 schools this year and getting rejections from all but two so far(still waiting) is highly discouraging. "Try again next year" isn't always an option when I already racked up 42k in student debt and loans kick in this November. Getting a career is my only option now. Not saving another 1000 for applications... I feel all of your pain and seeing more acceptances to schools you applied to while you don't hear back/already received the rejection letter is hard. It's hard to be happy for people while you sit back and watch as your dream falls down the drain because to keep applying and volunteer more is just not an option that can be pursued.

I know everyone's under a lot of stress right now... but some of the posts make me feel like I'm listening in on a private argument. Maybe when feelings are hurt or there's confrontation send each other private messages instead?

Since professional courtesy has been brought up, I want to make a PSA:

Please withdraw/decline schools that you don't want to attend ASAP!

I know many of us are/were waiting on funding, etc., but please make decisions ASAP. You can only go to one school. If you have multiple offers, please be courteous and only hold a maximum of 2 (maybe 3?) at a time...  You don't have to do anything until April 15th, but why wait that late? You probably know which schools you prefer - go ahead and drop the rest. It might give someone a chance to go to those schools from wait list, etc.

You're getting crap for being prepared??! Don't listen to them. I kept pushing back the GRE and basically had to end up taking it during my post-bacc and I was very overwhelmed with all of that combined with work, applications, etc. I made an entire binder full of information for each school including stats, program details, contact information, etc. and I would have died without it. Don't worry about what others think b/c you'll have the last laugh when you're prepared and they're stressing out later this year.

People are asking about facebook groups on the results page, so I thought I'd make a centralized place to collect these links.  If you have a link, share! I titled this topic "admitted fall 2015" in case programs starting this fall have different lengths or "class of" dates. To make this topic easy to search, please do not post requests, and check to make sure your link has not already been posted.

Please include the following in each post:
Full name of school as well as any common abbreviations Full title of group as it appears on Facebook If applicable, how to join the group (who to contact to join a private group) The link!

Thanks! I hope this will make things easier for everyone!

Okay guys...This has been the most stressful spring break ever with GradCafe! I have been spending wayyyyy too much time on here over the last week scouring the boards for grad program info!

GradCafe is a curse and a blessing to know about.
