  1. I'm a journalist with 5 years of experience covering pharmaceuticals and healthcare in India, and looking for a masters program to enhance my understanding of science. Aim is to get back into journalism to write on science. I'm 26, and most interested in biology and geography. I studied mass media in bachelors, and then did a post-graduate diploma in journalism. I was good at biology in high school. Suggestions??
  2. I want to learn more about science and environment so that I can report on issues in these areas with more authority. I was a really good biology student in high school, but could not continue it. What programs can I consider now? I'm 26, and a fairly accomplished journalist with 5 years of experience covering pharmaceuticals and healthcare in India for an international news agency. Thanks in advance for any thoughts/ideas/suggestions.
  3. Hey guys! I am considering applying for a masters degree in science, technology, and society for spring 2017, and would really like to hear from others considering this. I have zero background in sociology, science, or math. I did my undergrad in mass media, and a post-grad diploma in new media journalism, and have been working at a large news wire for the past five years as a reporter covering pharmaceuticals and healthcare. Last I studied science was in high school, (and I was great at biology) but couldn't pursue it further, and have always wanted to learn more about science and tech. STS modules sound very exciting! But given my background, there are very few schools I can consider. I'm also wondering how to think of a research topic. Any ideas at all? Fellow applicants, what are your topics, and how did you think of them? Any advice at all would be really helpful! I definitely want to study this next year, and application season is already underway, so I need to act fast. Thanks!
  4. Hello, I'm in dire need of help to find the right masters program. I am a journalist covering healthcare in India, but I have a strong interest in studying more about: English literature, public policy, and the impact of the growing strength of various Islamic terror groups on the world. What masters can I do that combines all this? Even if not all these, is there a good course that combines english literature and politics/public policy? Any advice would be hugely helpful, thanks!
  5. Hello, I'm very confused and could really use some help. I'm a 25-year-old journalist based in India, and have been covering healthcare for a major international news agency for the past 3 years. I've only studied in India so far -- graduation in mass media with a specialization in journalism, and a post-graduate diploma in new media journalism. I want to eventually work as a journalist with an expertise in Asia, but I really strongly feel the need to study about the history, politics, economics and development-related issues of other countries in Asia, apart from India. Any course suggestions please? I see a LOT of people interested in interdisciplinary studies in Asia are applying for East Asia focused courses. Are there any masters programs that would focus on South Asia as well as East Asia? I also considered the Columbia MESAAS program but frankly, I'm not even sure what my chances of getting into any of these courses are, because I don't have any history or politics background. I was thinking about MESAAS because that would give me a chance to study about the Middle East -- another region I'm very interested in, because of a more general interest in the Islamic world. Languages: I'm fluent in English, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and I know beginner-level Arabic and Persian. At this point, any suggestions you may have would be very very helpful. Thanks!
