  1. Can anyone who has been accepted into/attends Boulder for lit give me any indication as how close to April 15th they are cutting off the waitlist? Also, are any waitlisted applicants ever offered funding?
  2. I am looking at an incredibly similar situation. My undergrad alma mater is looking to partially fund me, but I got an unfunded offer from Georgetown. I don't have any undergrad debt, so I'm willing to take on a little (not that Georgetown would only be a little). However, I know that Georgetown would most likely place me into a better PhD program. I'm just scanning the forums and trying to get a feel for what to even take into account in making this decision?
  3. I was accepted as well, but I was not given any funding. Does this mean that there's still a chance they will pass on funding? And if so, we won't know until we've already accepted their offer? Because I'm not entirely sure I can afford to attend Georgetown solely on what FAFSA offers me.
  4. I have general interests and ideas, so based off of your replies, I suppose I'm where I need to be. Thanks for your helpful responses.
  5. No that's great. That's kind of what I've been doing (or trying to do?). Thanks for your help.
  6. I've seen and heard a lot of mixed responses about how much a student can expect to specialize during an MA (in Literature). I'm sure this varies from program to program as well. Can those already in or past their MA care to elaborate on their experiences? I'm trying to create a realistic picture.
  7. (applying for non-terminal M.A. programs in English Lit) I've gotten a lot of advice about being very specific in one's SOP about intended projects. However, part of the reason I'm applying to MA programs instead of directly to Ph.D.'s is because I feel that I need to formulate specific research interests a bit more coherently before I move on. So, how specific should I be (or am I expected to be) in this SOP? Am I expected to all but outline my thesis? Anyone (particularly in English) wish to share how they tackled their MA SOP?
  8. So are you saying that if you report your scores during test day, it doesn't cost you anything, but if you send your scores after test day, they charge you?
  9. I've already checked specific web pages where this information would be listed, such as the graduate admissions page for each department. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a site that compiled this kind of information.
  10. Is there a place, similar to what College Board does for undergrads with SATs and ACTs, where you can look up average GRE scores for various schools and departments? Magoosh had something of this nature for Ivy League schools.
