Also - all the emails inviting to graduate open house are such a tease! I look at the subject and just zoom in on the words I want to see, and then immediately getting my hopes up!

You still have a lot of schools to hear back from! Its only the beginning of March, stay optimistic!

@j_rae and @rzilby Did you apply through CSDCAS or the Adelphi site. If through the adelphi site-- When you go onto your portal to check your Adelphi application do you have a red X next to final transcript from ____ school? I have one, but i assume that is because I am still enrolled in my school until May. I assumed it was fine but the site of that X is scary

And tomorrow is Monday, anxiously awaiting updated portals, emails, and waiting for the mail

Haha ! I love this, this is exactly how I feel refreshing this page, my email, my portals. Luckily (or unluckily) the weekend is upon us and after tonight we can stop the refreshing chaos until Monday i suppose?? *more sighs*

April 15th Deadline & Waitlists
Tish22 replied to orangegreenblue's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Wow! Thats so soon for them to expect you to make a decision! Especially when most schools do not contact students until mid-march! How stressful - congratulations and best of luck! I hope you still get into your top choice! despite the financial loss -
Official Fall 2016 Interview Thread

So after talking to classmates about interviews, I'd love to get some peoples opinions on sending "thank you" emails to professors/chairs that have interviewed you? What does everyone think?/What have they done? -

April 15th Deadline & Waitlists
Tish22 replied to orangegreenblue's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
For those of you who have received acceptances, was april 15th your deadline? I heard of schools with deadlines pushed to May this year, not sure how true that is though. I know its only march 3rd, but i already feel like april is right around the corner, I find myself more and more anxious -
April 15th Deadline & Waitlists
Tish22 replied to orangegreenblue's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Although I have no personal experience with this, I do know this happens. Many universities often anticipate it, its sometimes the point of the waitlist? I have had friends who received calls a week before classes began (in August) from schools offering a seat in their program. Schools try to bind you by typically having a ~$500 non-refundable deposit. But in many cases, this has certainly happened in the past. Especially when it comes down to funding and what not. It would essentially be hard to pass up a schools offer that would leave you less in debt. Lets all keep our fingers crossed we get into our top choices before so we do not have to cross this bridge! -
Has anyone had any type of contact with Hofstra? They were my first application due (1/15) and I havent heard a thing, or seen anyone even mention it
-
@fuzzylogicianThank you! I have had two graduate school interviews. One, after my interview, required me to write a sample choosing from 4 topics so they could assess my writing skills, the second interview was a topic based on my major (seems like they wanted to see my knowledge in the field.) Writing isnt my best topic so i was worried!

How important is it to keep checking your portals? I'm finding schools predominately send acceptances via email, and along with invitations for interviews through email and phone calls. As March is finally here I find myself more and more anxious, refreshing emails, logging into portals. Although my portals only seem to say "received" "app complete" etc

I received an invite to the graduate open house, and boy was it such a tease. When I saw St. John's in my inbox I thought is this too good to be true? Well it sure was. how important/beneficial is it to go their open house? It is not speech specific, so I'm not sure whether I plan to go or not.

i came across this through LIU Post website, hope this helps! This is for NYC though, http://www.teachnycprograms.net/getpage.php?page_id=59

Do you currently go there? I'm very interested in their program, I knew someone who graduated their masters 2-3 years back and loved it. Do you feel things have changed?/ When do they typically send out acceptances/rejections?
-
The students currently attending as of fall 2015 are he first group to go in with it being accredited
-
Unfortunately I do not know that. I just know that about roughly a week ago they began calling to invite people for interviews to come in the upcoming weeks.
-
I personally have not heard back from Queens College, but I currently go there and I know they have began contacting people for interviews.
-
Does anyone have any insight on doing a writing sample on the spot at a graduate school interview? Best ways to attack it, possible topics?

Is anyone familiar with writing samples? Tips? Types of questions asked? (regarding writing samples required the day of your interview) -

I have heard of this situation many times. People do this often, and is kind of the purpose of the waitlist. I have also often heard of schools contacting students who were waitlisted to attend their school the WEEK BEFORE classes begin. My advice would be to do what is best for you, although it may be frowned upon, this is something many schools expect/plan for.
