Thanks for the input!

Yeah that's what keeps me from using Kaplan.....Can't imagine putting that much money into this test.
-
Did you try or have you heard anything about the online Kaplan courses? I'm in-between Magoosh and Kaplan.
-
Usually they offer them in September and October, just depends on the locations around you and what dates they offer.

@WillComeTrue Thank you! Same to you!

Rejected after being on the waitlist for my top choice program for over a month. The waiting was agonizing but the longer I was on the waitlist, the more hope I had that I would get off so I wasn't really expecting this today. I'm pretty disappointed but I'll be attending a master's program in the Fall and after giving myself a few days to cry and get over this I know I'll be excited to start this other program. Good luck to the rest of you! I sincerely hope you all have great outcomes!

Lots of people here are debt aversive, but if you have the funds or are willing to take on that amount of debt then I say go for it. I was just visiting GW for a different program, but the university and area is great. Pretty expensive to live in, but I think the area opens up a lot of doors networking wise because of where you're at. Do you feel like both areas would lend you career opportunities after you graduate?

Congrats to the SHSU individual who got accepted off the waitlist! Do you mind PMing me? Thanks! -
@blubed I can't imagine how much that costed you. Was that a factor that mattered for your or no?

Such a good point. Thanks for mentioning it!

Don't worry. Your roommate will most likely end up with twice as much debt as you and a smaller likelihood of finding a job after law school (as told by every professor I have had who is a lawyer when asked by students about going to law school). It's a competitive process for a reason! Still not fun to deal with though. Best of luck to you! -

Received an interview invitation from Sam Houston State University! It has been the school I have been focused on for 2 years because of their multi-mentorship model and forensic emphasis. Phone call from a faculty member. Interviews held on Feb. 12th. -

So what's the close total of how much it has costed to do the application process for all of these schools? My budget has been tight with just 6! -

I'm avoiding reading over my SoPs and CV so to not come across any errors that I can't fix anyway. But I'm definitely checking my email way more often than I need to and going over the qualifications of students at the programs all the time. Hopefully I can just set this aside as the holidays come closer and not focus on it. -
upsetting distractions while testing - very irritated
Psych_Law replied to doctor-to-be's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
That sucks. I felt super anxious the second time I took it due to a lot of noise distractions and one of the testing staff must have noticed and asked me (thankfully) during my break if I wanted these ear buds (similar to the ones you use if you're in a shooting range) since the other headphones did not fit on my very small head. I ended up having the ear buds and the headphones on and that helped a lot. I also, miraculously, scored better during that round than the first time I took it. I was dumbfounded considering I felt so distracted the whole time. Everyone I talked to about it said that all of those distractions probably eased my testing anxiety and allowed me to take the test without that making me overthink everything. So crazy enough, all of those distractions helped. But I definitely understand your frustration. Once you hear the noises, they seem to be all you can concentrate on. -

Is it Texas A&M? Cause they took forever to receive my transcripts and still have them in the process of "received but not processed". -
I would rest and not think about the GRE the night before the test. Your brain will be focused for almost 5 hours tomorrow on that test so give it a break tonight so it can be clear and ready tomorrow. Good a good night of sleep and don't change any routines you have just because you have a test tomorrow. If you always have a big breakfast, then follow that (along with any other routines). I really do believe your own mental state during the test makes a huge difference. Don't stress and remember: it's just a test. You can always retake it.

I've completed all my applications for doctoral programs (except I'm still waiting for one letter writer to send his recommendations in.....for Dec. 1st deadlines......totally not stressed at all). Masters programs are due later in the 2016 year so I'll start finishing those after the holidays. I'll have to refrain from endlessly checking my email and cell phone soon. The anxiety of waiting.... -
The fate of my applications are in the hands of professors who procrastinate everything and are leaving my letter of recommendations to the last day. One needs to be mailed and received by Dec. 1st. I've pestered them with so many emails, there's nothing else I can really do. Except hope and pray that they do them on time and my applications can be reviewed by December 1st. As a control freak, this isn't going over well with me....

I know. I wish there were so much more, especially since it's such a growing field. I'm still a senior in my undergraduate program so I was limited in funds, which resulted in being able to apply to 3 clinical programs (Sam Houston State University, University of Alabama, and Texas A&M), and 3 masters programs as my back up (George Washington University, Marymount University, and Roger Williams University.) Edit--I also have a preference for schools in the U.S..
