  1. Here is another resource to learn animation skills. There is a monthly charge for this. http://www.digitaltutors.com/11/index.php Another one that is more expensive. http://www.thegnomonworkshop.com/ You can download free educational versions of Autodesk software if you are taking a course at an educational institution. I don't know if you have to be a full time student or not but I think you have to have a student email. All the best to you.
  2. I think four students are accepted into Painting at UCLA, but check with the coordinator to be sure.
  3. Here is an older thread which lists some programs still accepting applications. I don't know if they are interdisciplinary or not. some others Brooklyn College February 1st, Montclair State - rolling? Good luck!
  4. For those of you who are waiting for interviews, here is a link to some questions posted in an interview related thread from last year. Good list of questions here.
  5. People also posted their results at this link which makes it easier to find for future applicants who might not read the old freakout threads which get pretty long. Posting both places would be a good idea. Some put their results in their signature as well. http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php
  6. Check out VCU and University of South Florida. Sent you a PM
  7. You might consider USF. Don't worry too much about your statment of purpose. Your work is what counts.I sent you a PM. Check your inboox. Good luck!
  8. Good info! There is another recent thread with even more information on funded programs. http://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/70211-mfa-programs-with-fullpartial-funding/
  9. If I don't get in this round, It'll be a pain to have to do all the application materials next year but... I am most not looking forward to bugging my professors each year, I feel bad, its work for them to have to write the letters. To anyone who has done this for multiple years, how to approach them again? Quote If you don't get in, I would email contact them shortly afterwards letting them know. I would tell them that you plan to apply again next year and would it be okay to contact them again to provide letters for you. Thank them very much for doing so in the first place of course. It shouldn't be that much work. My recommender had saved the letter as a word document and all she had to do was change the date. Professors are used to doing these kind of letters. Contact them well in advance next season if you have to. It's early yet so you may not have to worry about it! All the best to you!
  10. If you are looking for a good interdisciplinary program with funding and tuition waivers to apply to consider University of South Florida in Tampa. I believe the application deadline is January 15. I posted more info in this thread to make it easier for future users to find. http://forum.thegradcafe.com/topic/71505-usf-university-of-south-florida-mfa/ I am currently attending and learned about USF through this forum. By the way this forum has been extremely helpful and gets really busy in January and onwards as acceptances come in. All the best to all of you in your applications
  11. If you are looking for a really good under the radar funded program check out USF in Tampa. http://art.arts.usf.edu/content/templates/?z=161&a=1112 Conceptual, Abstract, figurative and and interdisciplinary artists are welcome. This is not a conservative school. Faculty come from SAIC, Hunter College, Bard, Cornell, etc. and are actively practicing and showing artists. You study directly one on one with the professors of your choice each year. There are required courses in Contemporary Thought/Theory and Art History electives. The program is pretty rigorous and you are expected to produce alot of work. The program is three years in length. In second and third year there are opportunities to teach. The student body is quite diverse in background and age. About 10-12 students in each year, 30-36 students total. Students come from all over the US and international students are welcome.(international students are also eligible for funding) Tampa is four hours drive away from Art Basel Miami and the other fairs in December. The school has a bus trip in December if you don't want to drive down on your own. Several faculty members, students and alumni have shown there. New York is a convenient 2.5 hour flight. Grads visit New York twice in their second year as part of the program. You can study abroad in Paris or London in summer. The school has a strong visiting artist/artist talk program: examples of recent visits Alex Soth, Zach Harris, Rashawn Griffin, Nicole Eisenman, Jules de Balincourt, Yamini Nayar, Tony Tasset and more. Grads can sign up for 45 minute one on one studio visits depending on availability of the visiting artist. There is a Contemporary Art Museum on campus CAM and Graphicstudio which has hosted many well known international artists. I am currently attending (want to remain anonymous though) and can say that I would not be doing the work I am doing now had I not attended this program. Tampa is an interesting place! Here are some prior threads with comments on USF University of South Florida http://forum.thegradcafe.com/search/?q=usf&type=forums_topic&nodes=79 All the best in your applications.
